If you want to start playing the oldest treacle MTG, Harukeya is the place to go! Report on the Haruelya Akihabara Store, Magic: The Gathering Specialty Store [Shun Gori's Akiba Exploration Part 8

It is no exaggeration to say that the recent boom in trading card games (TCG) has transformed Akihabara. Nowadays, TCG stores can be found everywhere in Akihabara, and you can probably find any kind of card you want just by strolling around Akihabara.

In "Shun Gori's Akiba Exploration," we will visit card shops in Akihabara one after another to introduce the atmosphere of the stores, the types of cards they carry, and their features.

This time, we visited Harukeya Akihabara, a store specializing in Magic: The Gathering (MTG), which is rare in Japan.

The store sells not only MTG cards, but also sleeves, card cases, play mats, dice, and other items necessary for playing the game. The store also carries Harukeya's original card sleeves and playmats, official handbooks, and even comic books about MTG, so you can find almost everything you need to play MTG here.

The store is also equipped with a spacious 28-seat play space, and you can borrow the "land cards" you need to play against other players, so you don't have to worry about running out of cards when you come to the store and want to play.

With all due respect, being an MTG specialty store, I imagined a store with a dark, underground atmosphere where core fans gather, but the store is bright and clean, with displays that are easy for beginners to understand, which is a good impression.

I had the impression that MTG cards are expensive because of their premium price, but most of the cards displayed in the store are reasonably priced, ranging from a few hundred yen to a few thousand yen.

Of course, there are some expensive cards priced over 100,000 yen, but these are only a small portion of the cards on display in the store.

It is understandable that manager Iizuka told us, "We aim to create a store not for collectors, but for players, especially beginners and those who are just starting out in the MTG industry.

The store has a huge inventory of cards, and customers can search for cards not displayed in the store, check the inventory, and place an order from a PC installed in the store. This service saves customers the trouble of searching through the overwhelming collection of cards on display.

Of course, you can not only buy and sell individual used cards, but also original packs (OriPa) assembled at the store are available for each version. And the price is an amazing 1,980 yen for a pack of 500 cards. If you are just starting out with MTG, you may want to buy an Oripa to get started.

The purchase corner also has a cheerful atmosphere, and the staff who deal with customers are very knowledgeable about cards, so you can leave your precious collection with them with peace of mind. The price of Trekkies fluctuates widely, but the most expensive cards are displayed on the counter, so you can get a good idea of the purchase price.

The Haruwaya Akihabara store also has staff members who are certified as official MTG teaching meisters, so beginners and those who want to start playing MTG can learn how to play here. After all, the shop is official, so there is no need to worry about learning obscure rules, which is often the case with TCGs.

Fans will be happy to find a compact store where they can immerse themselves in the world of MTG.

The Haruwaya Akihabara store holds events every day of the week, including a beginner's trial session and small daily events where you can buy cards and play with your deck as is, large-scale events on weekends, and premium tournaments with gorgeous prizes held periodically. If you have started playing MTG but have had trouble finding a partner, why not join an event that matches your skills and make new friends?

In the ninth installment of Shungori's Akiba Exploration, we visited the Harukeya Akihabara Store.

MTG, the founder of TCG, has been loved around the world for more than 30 years and is often considered a hurdle for newcomers to the game.

If you are thinking of starting MTG, why not visit Harukeya Akihabara first? Shun Gori, too, would like to take this opportunity to start playing with his junior high school son.

We will continue to add more and more Akiba information, so please look forward to it!
