Report on "Trekka Cave Card World TOWER AKIBA", the first store for Trekkies in Akihabara [Shun Gori's 10th visit to Akiba].
Shun Gori's Akiba Exploration" started with the goal of creating an Akiba MAP, but we felt it was impossible not to cover the card shops in Akihabara, which have been increasing in number in recent years, so we have been visiting card shops in Akihabara one after another.
In the previous issue (Part 9), we visited the Pokémon card game (commonly known as "Pokéka") specialty store "Pokémon Card Specialty Store Harukeya 2," which boasts one of the largest floor space in Akihabara. For a report on that visit, see " Report on Harukeya 2, " but for this visit, we went to "Trekker's Cave," one of the largest trading card (Trekka) stores in Akihabara, which sells and buys Trekkas.
The "Trekka Cave" is conveniently located just a 30-second walk from the Electric Town exit of Akihabara Station on the Radio Kaikan side, and uses an entire building to meet various demands related to Trekkas.
The first floor is devoted to "Yu-Gi-Oh!", the second floor to "Pokemon Card Game" and "Weiss Schwarz", and the third floor to "Magic: The Gathering" (commonly known as "MTG") and the recently released "One Piece Card Game", which has become a hot topic.
Three floors from the 4th to 6th floor are open to the public free of charge as duel spaces, catering to the various needs of collectors and players alike.
Upon entering the store, you will find a spacious floor with a cash register decorated in a steampunk style, and in front of the register are sleeves and other card-related goods to protect your precious cards. The latest fads are UV-cut cases that protect important cards from ultraviolet rays and hard cases that can be inserted and removed with a single touch.
The huge amount of cards for "Yu-Gi-Oh!", which will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year (2024), are displayed in a way that makes them easy to see and find, as one would expect from a store specializing in Trekkies. The store also has a selection of cards that have been PSA-approved for authenticity and grading, allowing customers to take a closer look at cards that are too expensive to purchase but that they would like to see at least once.
A purchase list updated daily is posted next to the cash register, so you can check here for the latest information on prices of Trekkies, which fluctuate wildly and are difficult to understand.
On the second floor, you will find the very popular "Pokéka" cards, as well as "Weiss Schwarz" and "Cardfight! Vanguard" cards.
Of course, there is a full lineup of used cards as well as the latest packs and starters. Since the shop is located near Akihabara station, those who want to start playing TCGs may want to check out "Trekka no Dobutsu" first.
On the third floor, you will find "MTG" and the recently talked about "One Piece Card Game.
One Piece Card Game" has only been on the market for a short time, but as rumor has it, it is very difficult to obtain, and it is not easy to stock this many cards. Incidentally, the store manager told us that the new "ONE PIECE" card game is sold by lottery, with a 0.004% chance of winning. So we live in an age where you need a lot of luck to buy Trekkies. ......
MTG" also stocks a large number of both foreign and domestic cards, ranging from inexpensive cards priced at a few tens of yen to expensive cards priced at several hundred thousand yen, making it a great selection for fans. The store also stocks a wide variety of cards, from inexpensive cards priced at tens of yen to expensive cards priced at hundreds of thousands of yen, making it a great place for fans to shop. When purchasing, it is necessary to check the printing, weight, and even the smell of the cards, and it takes a great deal of experience to be able to make such an appraisal.
The fourth through sixth floors are open to the public as dueling spaces.
The 4th floor was not used on this day because it was a weekday, but events are held on weekends and holidays.
The fifth floor is decorated with a "Shadowverse" theme and has a bright atmosphere. The space is also spacious. There are not many stores in Akihabara that offer this much duel space for free.
The sixth floor is decorated with pop-up displays from past events, some of which are autographed by event participants, and some are one-of-a-kind merchandise, making it a must-see for fans of the game.
Yellow seats by the brightly lit windows are reserved for women only. This is a duel space for women only, which is a nice touch in the world of Trekkies, where it is not easy for women to enter.
For the 10th installment of Shungori's Akiba Exploration, we visited the "Trekker's Cave.
It has been 30 years since the world's first trading card, "MTG," was introduced to the world, and the Trekka boom is expected to continue, although there are different ways to enjoy Trekkas, such as as a game, a collection, or just to appreciate them like works of art. Whatever way you choose to enjoy them, the "Trekka Cave" will be your strong ally.
We will continue to add more and more Akiba information, so please look forward to it!
YouTuber Shun Gori's activities can also be seen on YouTube.
He is appearing in various places, mainly talking about Taiwan, where he used to settle, so please check out his YouTube channel as well!
