Survive a New York City devastated by an unknown virus! The Division 2 Review

The game introduced in this issue is "The Division 2. As you can see from the official title "Tom Clancy's The Division 2," the game is based on the novel by American master Tom Clancy. As such, expectations were high even before its release, with 6.4 million people participating in the open beta test of "The Division" in 2016, and sales of "The Division" and "The Division 2" surpassing 10 million units each.

A bio-terrorist attack occurs in New York City! Restoring Order in a Devastated New York City

This time we will review "The Division 2. This is the second installment in the "The Division" series of games based on the novels by American master Tom Clancy.

One year, on Black Friday, a bio-terror attack occurs in New York City. Someone has spread an unknown virus called "Dollar Flu" on the dollar bills. The dollar flu quickly spreads throughout the United States and becomes a pandemic. New York, a major city, was soon quarantined. After the quarantine, water and food supplies ran out and infrastructure was shut down. Thus, the order of the people gradually collapsed, and a devastated New York City is the setting of this film.

As a member of "JTF," an organization that has stood up to restore order in New York, the protagonist aims to restore the city and uncover the truth behind the incident while carrying out various missions.

I actually played the tutorial!

Now, let's actually play.

First of all, you will see a setting screen. Here you can choose between Japanese or English voices, select the subtitle language, and adjust the brightness. You can change the settings you have made here at any time in the game, so there is no need to worry about it.

After the settings have been made, you will be taken to the character creation screen. After randomly selecting a character, you can fine-tune the position of the eyebrows and eyes, as well as the fineness of the chin and cheeks. Clothing can also be picked up or bought in-game.

After character creation is complete, you will be taken to the operation screen. This may be a JTF settlement. It seems that someone has attacked the inhabitants.

As I proceeded through the village, I found an armed group. It must have been them! Here, you will go through a tutorial on basic controls, such as running and hiding from obstacles. After defeating the enemies and reviving your fellow Agent Delacruz, the operation tutorial ends and a movie begins.

It seems that there has been a series of attacks on the village, and if the attacks continue, the residents will have no choice but to emigrate. At that time, another attack occurs. Furthermore, a distress signal from Washington, D.C. is received on the smartwatch of a superior officer. The protagonist is instructed by his superior to go to Washington, DC for support.

After the opening movie ends, the White House base in Washington, DC is shown. Was the distress signal sent from here? Let's head there as soon as possible.

As you head toward the White House while defeating enemies you meet along the way, you see a group of armed men in front of the White House! We will surprise them from behind while making good use of obstacles.

After defeating the armed group, you will be able to enter the base of the White House. At the base, you can sell and buy equipment at the store, store items in storage boxes, and obtain perks and skills. The tutorial ends here!

Choose your skills and perks to strengthen your main character!

The game flow of this title is basically to earn experience through main missions, sub-missions, battles on the road, and item collection, and to collect and strengthen skills and perks as you level up.

Skills include drones and turrets that attack enemies for you and drones and grenades that heal you, which can be acquired in exchange for skill points. Skill points can be collected through mission rewards, level-up rewards, bounties, daily missions, and weekly mission rewards.

A "perk" is an ability that helps you fight or explore more efficiently. There are perks that increase the maximum number of items you can carry and perks that allow you to add mods to your weapons, which you can obtain in exchange for SHD Tech, which is an in-game point. SHD Tech will respawn in a box in a fixed location in the MAP every 24 hours.

Incidentally, there is also a very extensive "end content" section that allows players to continue playing after finishing the regular storyline and leveling. When the agent level reaches 30, an element called equipment score is released, and the total equipment level becomes a barometer of strength. The maximum equipment score is 500, which can be raised to 5 world class by completing the "invasion missions" added after clearing the story.

I played the main mission!

I will try to play just one main mission this time!

When we arrive at the White House, our coordinator, Manny, briefs us on the current situation. That security has been deteriorating rapidly since the collapse of the JTF in Washington, DC. While the city is being ravaged by multiple forces, including looting and raids, some civilian communities have managed to resist. However, they are all in need of assistance.

Apparently, a woman named Odessa Sawyer, who runs a community near the White House, has important information and you are instructed to meet with her.

When I meet Odessa Sawyer, it seems that her daughter, Eleanor, has been kidnapped by the attackers, and I am given the mission to rescue Eleanor. I am told that there is a boss on this mission! I head to the scene immediately.

When you arrive at the mission location, the mission starts automatically. We received a radio call from Agent Kelso, who was on his way to the rescue earlier. First, we look for the entrance to the building. On the way, you will be attacked by countless enemies, so be careful and check for a safe place, commonly known as "clearing".

Once inside the building, you will be instructed to go to the rooftop. It appears that Eleanor is being held captive on the rooftop.

We will head to the rooftop as soon as possible while defeating enemies along the way. It is very reassuring that the drone will go to defeat enemies that are too far away.

After forcibly prying open a broken elevator door, we finally made it to the rooftop. On the rooftop was Agent Kelso, who had gone to the rescue earlier. From here, I will work with Agent Kelso to rescue Eleanor.

As we proceeded to the rooftop garden, enemies were rushing in at once. Agent Kelso and I join forces to fight them. After a while, a boss appears from the back. The boss was wearing armor plates and was extremely hard, but we managed to defeat him!

Proceeding to the room at the back of the rooftop, we found Eleanor! Now Odessa Sawyer is at ease. We were able to complete the mission safely.

A game that makes you feel like you are watching a movie

Since the game is based on a novel, the world and the storyline are excellent, and the more you play, the more you are drawn into the world of The Division.

The more you play, the more you are drawn into the world of The Division. The game is so detailed that when you pick up the countless echoes (holograms that record the situation at the time of an incident or terrorist attack) that fall throughout the world, you can witness the conversations of people and incidents before and after the attack, giving you the feeling that you are watching an epic movie.

Since it has been three years since the game was released, the number of simultaneous connections for the Steam version is around 2,000, which seems a bit low. Maybe it's just the low-level zone, but it's a little sad that even if you request rescue in the early missions, you won't be matched, and you won't get the umph that you would have gotten from the multiplayer.

However, it does support cross-play, so there should be a few more actual users. Also, the price has been significantly reduced due to the month since its release, making it a great value for the money. The game itself is fun, and you can play it in anticipation of the next installment.
