A new series of the anime "Kinnikuman" will be produced to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the anime's broadcast. In addition, a new visual of Kinnikuman depicting his muscular back has been released.

The original "Kinnikuman" was first serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) in 1979 by author Yudetamago (Takashi Shimada in charge of original scenario and Yoshinori Nakai in charge of drawing). The series continues to be serialized in "Weekly Playboy" and "Shukupre NEWS" (both published by Shueisha). The series has sold more than 77 million copies.
The story is about Kinnikuman, a clumsy and stupid dropout from the planet Kinniku, who through hard work, friendship, and victory eventually grows into the strongest man in the superhuman fighting world. The anime has been on air since 1983, and has become a huge boom, with 200 million Kinkeshi sold.

Commenting on the anime adaptation, Yudetamago, the author of the original story, said, "Something interesting is steadily being created, I can say this clearly. Please look forward to it." Mr. Nakai said, "I have high expectations, but on the other hand, I also feel a great responsibility. I will continue to draw works that everyone will enjoy even more.

The new anime visual is used as the cover illustration for the Shueisha mook "Kinnikuman Jump Vol. 4 - 'New Anime Decision & 40th Anniversary of First TV Anime Broadcast' Commemorative Issue," which will be on sale at bookstores, convenience stores, and e-bookstores nationwide from March 17 (Friday).

The new visual panel will also be displayed at the "Super Kinnikuman Exhibition," an exhibition commemorating the 40th anniversary of the anime broadcast, which will be held at the Tokyo Tower Foot Town B1F Tower Hall from March 18 (Saturday).

Kinnikuman will be back again as an anime, and we look forward to hearing more about it.

Kinnikuman

Kinnikuman" was serialized in Shueisha's "Weekly Shonen Jump" magazine from 1979 to 1987 with 387 episodes. Kinnikuman II" was serialized in "Weekly Playboy" from 1998. Kinnikuman" and "Kinnikuman II" have sold over 77 million copies in total (12th place in history).
The TV animation series began airing in April 1983, with an average rating of 20%. 7 movies have also been produced.
In 2011, "Kinnikuman" resumed serialization for the first time in 24 years, and was selected as No. 7 in "This Manga is Amazing" in 2012. 2013 marked the 100th volume of the series, which has been serialized in "Weekly Playboy" in addition to "Shukupre NEWS" on the web since 2020.
