The time is the late Edo period. Gabaimaru, formerly the strongest Shinobi in Ishikakure, who was taken prisoner as a lone Shinobi and became a dead criminal, is told that he can be exonerated if he brings back "the elixir of immortality" from an island rumored to be the Paradise of the Pure Land. In order to reunite with his beloved wife, Gabaimaru heads for the island where the elixir is said to be located, together with the beheading executioner, Yamada Asaemon Sagiri.

Editor's Recommendation: Gabaimaru, who is feared as the strongest ninja but is about to be executed as a lone ninja, is ordered to go to a place rumored to be the Pure Land of Paradise to obtain an elixir of immortality as a condition for his acquittal. The story is a classic tale of various ninja fighting over a treasure using their ninjutsu skills, but the beautiful and tragic visuals of the show have made it a favorite among a wide range of viewers!

In 2024, the world collapsed - 15 years after an unprecedented catastrophe. In the ruins of Japan, a strange creature called "Hiruko" (a man-eater) is nesting in the ruins, and the people are living in a small huddle. Kiroko, a handyman in Nakano, Tokyo, receives a mysterious request from a woman.

Editor's Recommendation: Production I.G. adapted the science fiction manga by Shozu Ishiguro of "Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru" fame into an anime. The series is composed by Makoto Fukami, who has worked on "PSYCHO-PASS" and other works. A girl (boy?) with a brain transplanted into his sister's body Kiriko and Maru, a boy searching for "Heaven," travel through a Japan where civilization has collapsed through battles with mysterious life forms and encounters with various organizations and people. This is a post-apocalypse work in which mystery calls for mystery.

Editor's Recommendation: An unusual romantic comedy by Norio Sakurai of "Mitsudomoe," in which only characters with twisted personalities appear. Kyotaro Ichikawa, who is in the throes of a chuuni-sickness, can't help but want to kill Anna Yamada, the madonna he longs for, and he gets pushed around by Yamada's unusual behavior every time. At the beginning of the serialization, it seemed as if the story would continue in this vein, but gradually their relationship gets closer ...... and the romantic element comes to the forefront. It will be interesting to see how this change is portrayed in the anime.

Editor's Recommendation: The story starts off with a surprising opening: the timid protagonist suddenly falls in love with a group of evil women! This is a surprising start to the story. At first glance, it appears to be a harem-like story, but since the original story was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Champion," it is a work with a strong royal road shonen manga flavor. The heroines are not all straightforward, but as the story progresses, they become more and more endearing, which is a wonder. The original story has already been completed, so it is a good idea to check out all the episodes in the book before the anime airs!
