The first live-action version of "Getter Robot," the original transforming x combining x giant robot, is to be released in 2025 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Getter Robot! Scheduled to be released in 2025 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Getter Robot!

It was announced that "Getter Robo," the original story by Go Nagai and Ken Ishikawa, will be adapted into a live-action movie for the first time in 2025, the 50th anniversary of the original story. In conjunction with the announcement, a crowdfunding campaign to produce a pilot movie of "Getter Robo" has started.

Getter Robo" is a manga series in "Weekly Shōnen Sunday" written by Go Nagai and Ken Ishikawa, and an anime series broadcast on Fuji Television from 1974 to 1975. It is a milestone in the giant robot genre, and is called the original work that incorporated the "combining" element.

While the animated TV version was a good/evil story that could be appreciated by younger viewers, Ken Ishikawa's serialized version is more violent and hard-hitting, and is still supported by enthusiastic fans today.

It was announced today that this work, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025, will be adapted into a live-action film for the first time, as it has been a work that has met a wide range of demands for both anime and manga over the long term. In conjunction with the start of production of the film, the Big One, a company mainly engaged in film production on consignment and production financing, has been established.

The producer, director, and scriptwriter of this film is Junya Okabe, who has worked on "Daikaiju Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legend," "Cat Shit One," "Brave Storm," "ZVP (Zatoichi vs. Predator)," etc.
The goal is to create a live-action version of "Getter Robo," a modern take on the outlaw, violence, and action of Go Nagai and Ken Ishikawa's "Getter Robo" manga.

The rights to the live-action film have already been concluded with Dynamic Planning, the rights holder, and the main companies are currently preparing to establish a production committee, so we can look forward to further news.

It was also announced that a crowdfunding campaign will be held for two weeks until April 19 (Wed.) to raise funds for the production of a "pilot film," which will be a compilation of advanced special effects, digital and special effects footage for the film.
The crowdfunding is being held on CAMPFIRE for Japan for two weeks until April 19 (Wed.). A Kickstarter campaign will follow in early April.
The returns will include the right to view the pilot video online before it is released to the public, a making-of video, and a name in the end roll credits.

The pilot film will be released in theaters in 2025, the 50th anniversary of Getter Robo.
There are many visual images in the manga version of Getter Robo that are attractive but extremely difficult to create. In order to best visualize them, we are planning to make visual prototypes and test images of special effects and VFX with domestic and overseas creators.
Normally, this would be done within the budget and schedule of the film, but with the usual budget scale of Japanese films, various compromises have to be made at the start. However, the mission of the live-action "Getter Robo" is to surpass conventional live-action Japanese films based on manga and anime.
One of the ways to achieve this goal is to produce a pilot film (3 to 5 minutes), which will be treated as a separate project from the main film production cost. We are planning to produce a pilot film (3 to 5 minutes) as a means of bringing this mission closer to reality, and we are asking for support from Getter Robo fans and those who have high expectations for the live-action film through crowdfunding.
