Eight works including "The Original Sin of Takopi" were nominated for the 27th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award <Manga Grand Prize>!
Finalists for the 27th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize "Manga Grand Prize" have been announced.
The Asahi Shimbun announced the Manga Grand Prize, Shinsei Prize, Short Story Prize, and Special Prize for the 27th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award on Tuesday, April 25. Eight works were nominated as finalists for the Manga Grand Prize, which is open to works published or released within the last year.
The awards selected by the final selection committee will be announced in the morning edition of the Asahi Shimbun newspaper, the Asahi Shimbun digital media, and press releases on the 25th.

The finalists for the Manga Grand Prize were selected based on the votes of seven external selection committee members, as well as recommendations by manga-related persons and booksellers, and general recommendations by readers and others.

<The Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize
Established in 1997 by the Asahi Shimbun to commemorate the achievements of Osamu Tezuka, who played a major role in the development and improvement of Japanese manga culture, and to contribute to the healthy development of manga culture by following in his footsteps.
In addition to the "Manga Grand Prize," which is awarded to the most outstanding work of the year, there is also the "Shinsei Prize," which is given to the creator of a fresh talent with innovative expressions or groundbreaking themes, the "Short Prize," which is given to a work or creator who has achieved outstanding results in short stories, four-panel stories or single-panel stories, and the "Special Prize," which honors individuals or groups who have contributed to the development of manga culture.
The regular prize, a statue of Astro Boy (created by Hiroshi Yokoyama) and cash prizes (grand prize of 2 million yen and other prizes of 1 million yen each) will be awarded.
