Akiba Research Institute Anime Awards 2018" is a project to determine the best anime of the year from popular anime broadcasted from October 2017 to September 2018. Nominated from each of the fall 2017, winter 2018, spring 2018, and summer 2018 seasons are the top 10 works from the "Best-watched Anime Popularity Poll" previously conducted by Akiba Research Institute. Let's decide which anime was particularly interesting out of a total of 40 works!

Let's take a look at the results as of 11:30 a.m. on December 6 (Wed.), one week after the start of voting.

At present, "Jyakkami-chan Dropkick" is the top-ranked manga by a wide margin. Although it was in the lower ranks at the beginning of the voting process, the "Jyakko-chan Dropkick" official Twitter page's enthusiastic call for votes was answered by a large number of "Jyakko-chan Dropkick" fans. The "Jyakamichan Dropkick" received a tremendous boost in the rankings, and finally took the top spot. It remains to be seen how far the number of votes will go from here.

In second place is "A Place Far Away from Outer Space. This film recently made news when it was named "The Best TV Shows of 2018" by the New York Times. The drama, which is well grounded and worth watching, must have won the hearts of many anime fans.
Third place went to "Yamanosume: The Third Season. This is the third installment of the well-known mountain climbing anime. Showing its unchanged popularity, it has gradually risen in the rankings and is currently in third place. It will be interesting to see how far it can increase its votes from here.
Looking at No. 4, "Hataraku Cell," No. 4, "Just Because!" No. 5, "Shinkage no Kyojin Season 3" No. 7, and "Hakumei to Mikochi" No. 10 are all popular works.
On the other hand, three "Kirara"-style titles ranked in the top three: "Slow Start" (No. 6), "Yuru Canpu △" (No. 8), and "Blend S" (No. 9). The popularity of works based on bishojo manga also remained strong. Among them, "Yuru Can △," which aired in the winter 2018 airing season and attracted a great deal of attention, will be interesting to see how many more votes it can garner in the future.
