The film is a hard-boiled, sometimes comical work by Tsukasa Hojo. The original story was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1985, and the TV anime produced by Sunrise began airing in 1987. 140 episodes of the series, 3 specials, and 3 movie versions have made it a blockbuster hit.

The guest voice actors announced this time are Marie Iide, one of the hottest young actresses of the moment, and Yoshimi Tokui of the popular comedy duo, Tutorial.
