TriFort and DMM GAMES announced that "Kabaneri the Iron Castle -Ran-" will be released on December 19, 2012.

This role-playing game takes place three months after the original anime "Kabaneri of the Iron Castle," which was created in the spring of 2016 by Tetsuro Araki, director of "Shinkage no Kyojin. The stage is shifted from the island nation of Hinomoto to Nakano-kuni, where the story that follows the anime unfolds, and players can enjoy a new story that is only available in this title, connecting the original work with the movie version of "Kouetsujo no Kabaneri: Kaimon Kessen," scheduled to be released in spring 2019.

The opening movie, which was released prior to the distribution, has been viewed more than 800,000 times. The movie includes a part of the main story supervised by the staff of the original work. The movie features the work of Tetsuro Araki as supervisor of the original story, Junpei Kasaoka as scriptwriter and creative director, and Haruhiko Mikimoto as character designer, all of whom are members of the splendid staff.
