Interview] Let your doubts fly away! Minori Suzuki's first album "Fly before you look!
Minori Suzuki made her solo debut in January 2018 with the single "Feeling Around". About a year later, at the end of 2018, her long-awaited first album will finally be released to fans. Titled "Fly before you look!" The title of the album is "Fly before you look!" She has been challenging herself in many different ways, starting with her role as Freya in the TV anime "Macross Delta" and her work with Valkyrie, and this album is filled with her determination. She says that she sometimes felt uneasy in the rapidly changing situation. She overcame her fears and gained a breadth of expression in all 12 songs. We hope that many fans will accept "Minoringo" as it is!
I am so happy to be able to sing the songs on this album now!
─ ─ Congratulations on the release of your 1st album "Fly before you look! Congratulations on the release of your first album, "Fly Before You See! What was the first thing you thought about when making the album?
Suzuki: First of all, we decided on the album title. We decided on two titles: "Fly before you look! and "I want to do something weird! were the two candidates. I want to do something weird! is a title that came from the fact that I have been saying in various places, "I want to do something different! I've been saying "I want to do something different! was recommended by producer Masao Fukuda, who said, "It's important to have the momentum to jump off a cliff before looking down.
─ From the two, you chose "Jump before you look! was chosen.
Suzuki: It was close to how I felt at the time of my debut, and I had been struggling with a lot of things recently, so I felt like "I have to do it before I think about it! I was feeling like, "I have to do it before thinking about it! And when I look back on the first album later, I thought it would be a word that would bring me back to my initial feelings, so I chose this one.
─ ─ On the album, there are also the words "Jump before you look! and "I want to do something weird! and "I want to do something weird!
Suzuki: That's right. I wanted people to understand that there is another lead song in addition to the album title song, so I made a music video for "I want to do something weird! I made the music video for the lead song "I want to do something weird!
I will talk more about the music video for "I want to do something weird! I'll talk more about the music video for "I want to do something weird! What do you think of the album as a whole?
Suzuki: I think the album has a very wide range of songs. There are three new songs for which I wrote the lyrics, and all of them have the theme of "I want to be myself. The other songs also contain things that I have experienced and always felt, and they are all songs that I am happy to sing now. If I had encountered the songs on this album more in the past or, conversely, more in the future, I think I would feel completely differently about them.
