Survival horror manga "Giant Mushroom Islands" will be adapted into an anime! Special edition volume 6 with anime will be released in June next year!

Giant Mushroom Archipelago," currently serialized on the free manga distribution site "Mangacross" (Akita Shoten), will be adapted into an anime.

The "Giant Mushroom Archipelago" is a survival horror story in which giant "bugs" attack humans. During a school trip, a plane crashes, and the group ends up on an island ruled by giant bugs. The group is forced to risk their lives in order to escape the onslaught of bugs in this insect panic film.
Based on a manga by Yasutaka Fujimi (manga: REDICE), who has worked on many insect comics. Based on the concept of "if insects grew to a giant size," the manga realistically depicts the situation and became very popular. It has been supported by many fans, winning the No. 1 monthly access on famous manga websites.

The sixth volume of the comic, which will be released on June 20, 2019, will be available in a special edition with animation in addition to the standard edition. The "Giant Mushroom Archipelago" volume 6 special edition with anime will be available for pre-order only, and pre-orders will begin on Saturday, January 19, 2019 (pre-orders will close on Tuesday, May 7).

The teaser visual for the anime version, which was also released, depicts the main character Mutsumi Oribe, who is familiar with insects, Mutsumi's best friend Chitose Naruse, and Ayumi Matsuoka, captain of the softball team, with the shadow of a giant bug looming behind them. In the teaser PV released at the same time, the shocking copy "On that island... humans were nothing more than food for the bugs" is accompanied by cuts of the characters' terrified expressions.

The animation staff includes: general director Takahashi Tsuyoshi of "Wolf and Spice" and "Akisora," script by Morita Shigeru of "Arpeggio Ars Nova," and character design by Noguchi Takayuki of "Queen's Blade Rebellion. Animation production will be handled by Paschone. The cast is to be announced in the future.
