Anime writers' picks for the five most noteworthy winter 2019 anime! [Anime Column

According to Akiba Research Institute, there are more than 40 new TV anime starting in winter 2019. The lineup is so large that you will forget about the New Year holidays.
Here are five of the hottest anime for winter. The brain battle romantic comedy "Kaguya-sama ga Kesshirasai - Geniuses' Love Brain Battle", the beautiful girl x reciprocating fighter "Wilderness Kotobuki Squadron", "Boogiepop wa Laughing" that laid the foundation of "Dengeki Bunko", the cute cat comedy "Dou roommate wa Hiza, Toki ni Migatari, Atama no Uchi ni", and the 16-year-old series "Star Wars: The Last Airbender". and "Star Twinkle Pretty Cure," now in its 16th year.

Kaguya-sama ga Tetsurenasai ~The Geniuses' Brain Battle of Love

Based on a school love comedy serialized in "Weekly Young Jump. Kaguya Shigumiya, the daughter of a zaibatsu that boasts 200 trillion yen in total assets, and Goyo Shiragin, a genius who maintains his position as the top student in his grade through tireless effort. The two are attracted to each other, but their pride prevents them from confessing their feelings to each other, and they engage in a trial-and-error love battle over "how to make the other person confess.
The tension between Kaguya and Shiragin, who both attend Shuchiin Academy with a deviation score of 77, as they read each other's minds in the closed room of the student council chambers, is so tense that it deserves the catchphrase "a romantic comedy with a battle of wits. Kotobuki Flying Squadron in the Wilderness

Original air battle action film directed by Tsutomu Mizushima of "Girls und Panzer" and "Shirobako. The film depicts a group of girls with rich personalities belonging to the Kotobuki Flying Squadron, a group of bouncers, flying through the sky to protect their clients from air pirates. The story takes place in a world where a paradigm shift has occurred due to various things falling from the sky, and many real-life reciprocating aircraft appear, including the "Hayabusa," a set of fighter planes manufactured during World War II. The sounds of engines and machine guns are realistic, allowing the viewer to experience the thrilling air battle scenes.
The characters are represented by 3DCG, and in the first PV, the pilot Kirie is seen eating her favorite pancake with a delicious smile on her face. Director Mizushima has a background as a director of "Crayon Shin-chan," and it is nice to see Akiko Yajima and Keiji Fujiwara, who played the father and son in the film, co-starring in the film.



Boogie Pop Won't Laugh

An anime adaptation of a popular novel published in 1998 by "Dengeki Bunko" that has influenced many creators. Boogiepop, the god of death, automatically comes to life when he senses a crisis in the world. In the teaser PV, Boogiepop manipulates a wire, his weapon, like a conductor and confronts the "enemies of the world" in a scene. In the commercial, Boogiepop also delivers a line. The mysterious voice of this rhapsodist has an unforgettable tone once you hear it.
Fans will also be interested to see how Boogiepop's eponymous musical "Die Meistersinger von Nuremberg" will be used in the film. Director Shingo Natsume and series writer Tomohiro Suzuki are the same duo that worked on "One-Pan Man" and "ACCA 13th Precinct Inspection Division. The brilliant action is also a must-see!



Roommates are on your lap, sometimes on your head.

In this heartwarming comedy, Subaru Mikazuki, a mystery writer who hates people, is inspired by Haru, a stray cat, and begins to live with him. The original comic depicts their life together from the perspective of cats as well as humans. How will the popular cast of animal actors, including Haruka Yamazaki as Hal, Ayumi Murase, Kenjiro Tsuda, Tomokazu Sugita, and others, express their feelings?
In a special video streaming on the official website, Kensho Ono, the lead actor, visits a cat café. He tries to make friends with the cats, but is brilliantly passed over, and you can't help but laugh as he struggles to catch them with bait. In addition, "Suzume-chan," a cat with 680,000 followers on Instagram, is appointed as a cheer leader. The collaboration PV is bursting with cute and mocking. A must-see for cat lovers.
