The OP theme of "Kaguya-sama ga Kesshirasai ~Tensai-tachi no Koi Toushi no Arufu Senkou-Senkaku" is decided to be "Love Dramatic feat. Rokka Ihara" by Masayuki Suzuki!

Masayuki Suzuki's "Love Dramatic feat. Rokka Ihara" has been chosen as the opening theme for the TV anime "Kaguya-sama ga Kesshirasai ~Tensai-tachi no Koi Toushi no Aizu Senkaku Sen", which will begin airing in January 2019.

Akasa Akasaka's "Kaguya-sama ga Kesshirasai - Geniuses' Love Brain Battle" (published by Shueisha's "Weekly Young Jump") has sold over 4 million copies (including digital editions). This is a new type of "brain battle" romantic comedy about Kaguya Shigiya, the vice president, and Gyoko Shiragin, the president, who are both too proud to be honest with each other. The TV anime will start airing on MBS, TOKYO MX, BS11, etc. from January 12, 2019 (Sat), and the opening theme for the work was finally announced today.

The opening theme will be "Love Dramatic feat. Rokka Ihara" by Masayuki Suzuki.
Masayuki Suzuki, the "king of love songs," who made his debut as a member of Chanels in 1980 and will celebrate his 39th year of music activity in 2019, wrote the lyrics and composed the music for this new single after a three-year absence. This project was made possible by the strong desire of the anime side staff to have the king of love songs sing the theme song of the No. 1 romantic comedy, and this marks the first time in 39 years since his debut that Masayuki Suzuki has sung a theme song for a TV anime.

In addition, Akimitsu Honma, who has produced numerous hit songs, was in charge of the arrangement as producer. Mr. Homma also invited Rokka Ihara, a hot young actress who recently announced her debut as a singer, to sing as a guest female vocalist. Her lovely voice adds color to the music, creating a fresh collaboration.

Masayuki Suzuki's "Love Dramatic feat. Rokka Ihara" will be released on February 27, 2019.

This is the first time I have been asked to sing an anime theme song as Masayuki Suzuki.
As a vocalist, I am always looking for new challenges, so I asked Yoshiki Mizuno of Kimono Gakari to write the lyrics and music, and Akimitsu Honma to produce the music.
Homma's idea was to include a female vocalist in the song, and I also asked Rokka Ihara to participate in this collaboration project.
I believe that this is a new type of love song for me. For my new album to be released on March 13, 2018, in addition to Honma-kun, I am working on songs with many of Japan's leading producers, so I hope you will look forward to those as well, but first, I hope you will take the time to listen to this "Love Dramatic".

The starting point for this work was to ask for an OP theme that was not too close to the anime, being conscious of the "gap" that is one of the biggest attractions of this work. Also, since this is a "romantic comedy," we approached Masayuki Suzuki, who is an artist who sings love songs and is one of the top singers of such songs.
Rokka Ihara's participation in the project will be a bridge to those who are close to the fan base of the work and those who will be exposed to it in the future. We hope you enjoy the OP theme as well as the full-length anime.

I was very happy to be able to work with Masayuki Suzuki on Yoshiki Mizuno's song, and it was a very precious time for me. I sang the song with my own feeling and thoughts about the atmosphere and image of the song. I was nervous, but I was excited to hear Masayuki Suzuki's voice as I recorded the song. I love this song and I am very happy to have been able to participate.

Producer Akimitsu Honma
When I received the offer from Mr. Martin to arrange and produce the album, I was honestly very happy. We had a lot of mutual acquaintances, so I felt like I had finally arrived at the right place. Since "Love Dramatic" was written by Yoshiki Mizuno, I produced it to convey a funky, groovy, yet sad melody. Also, since the title of the song is "Love Dramatic," we hoped that the song would have a dialogue between Mr. Martin and a woman, which is why we were able to collaborate on this project. In doing so, we tried to strike a balance so that the song would reach the ear in a natural way, as if it were a normal conversation rather than a duet between Ms. Martin and Rokka Ihara. I think the result is exactly what we were aiming for.
