Character draft is by Haruba Negi of "The Bride of the Fifth Estate"! TV anime "Ponomichi" teaser PV, characters and cast are all revealed!

Original TV anime "Pon no Michi" will be produced. Teaser PV, characters and cast were also announced.

Kodansha, which upholds the philosophy of "Inspire ImpossibleStories," an English language phrase that expresses the spirit of "interesting and instructive," is taking on the challenge of creating an original TV animation for the first time. The first of these, the completely new anime "Ponomichi," will begin airing in January 2024.

Haruba Negi-sensei, author of "Sentai Daiyakunin" and "The Bride of the Fifth Class," is in charge of drafting the characters for the first original anime. It depicts the daily lives of high school girls living happily in Onomichi, using a former mahjong parlor as their playground.

Teaser visual and PV released!

The teaser visual depicts everyone holding mahjong tiles and taking selfies, and in addition to the beautiful townscape of Onomichi, the setting of the anime, the girls' cuteness and the way they hold their tiles show their individuality.

The teaser PV (#) begins with an exciting line from one of the main characters, Nashiko, "A new Yutopia! from the exciting line, "The new Yutopia! The story unfolds as everyone enjoys finding their secret base, playing mahjong, having tea, and joking around with each other.

Nashiko Jippensha, a high school girl living in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, was in trouble after being kicked out of her house.
I don't have a place where I can hang out with my friends..."
When she finds out that the mahjong parlor her father used to run is now empty, she decides to rebuild it into a place where everyone can gather together. Together with her friends, Pai and Izumi.
Now that they have a playground, Nashiko and her friends play, cook, have tea, and sometimes play mahjong....
This is a story that will make you love such an ordinary day in your life.

The main cast includes Kaori Maeda!

The main characters will be played by Kaori Maeda as Nashiko Jippensha, Iori Saeki as Pui Kawato, Shion Wakayama as Izumi Tokutomi, and Yui Kondo as Reece Hayashi.

A high school girl who speaks in Hiroshima dialect. She has a bright and headstrong personality, and tends to run forward with a lot of energy.

She is a complete beginner at mahjong and was born on September 12.

Pai Kawahigashi cv Iori Saeki
A high school girl who has known Nashiiko since childhood. She has a soft and gentle personality, with a soft spot for all things cute, but she also has an active side that loves the outdoors.
Invited by Nashiko, she enjoys her days at the mahjong parlor.
She understands the rules of mahjong and was born on August 1.

Izumi Tokutomi cv.
A high school girl who is a friend of Nashiko-Pai. She started coming to the hangout at Nanako's urging.
She has a firm and crisp personality, and has a unique sense of naming things.
She was born on February 12.

A high school girl who has visited the mahjong parlor that used to be run by Nashiko's father in the past and hopes to revive it as a place to which she is attached.
She is an extraordinary young lady who hires maids, and when she finds out that Nashiko and her friends hang out at the mahjong house, she comes to visit.

Chombo
A mahjong spirit. She has been staying at the sparring parlor owned by Nashiko's father for a long time, but the details are unknown.
Since only Nashiko can hear its voice, Pai, Izumi and others recognize it as an ordinary sparrow.

The original character design is by Haruba Negi, whose "The Bride of the Fifth Class" series has sold more than 20 million copies. This is the first time that Haruba has drafted a character for an original anime. OLM, which has produced the "Pokemon" series and "Yokai Watch," is in charge of production.
