Mazinger Z", "Sazae-san", "Secret Sentai Goranger" - "Spaceman Watanabe Memorial Concert" will be held on October 1 (Sun.)! Akira Kushida, Shoko Nakagawa, Miyako Horie, MoJo and others will perform.

In addition to composing songs for "Mazinger Z," "Sazae-san," "Baseball Fanatic's Poem," and other animated films, he also composed songs for the "Super Sentai" series, which spans about half a century from "Secret Sentai Goranger" to "Kikai Sentai ZENKAIJAR," as well as for "Space Detective Space Detective Gavin" and "Kikaider". He has also composed music for the "Metal Hero" series and special effects films such as "Android Kikaider". He has incorporated jazz rock into the music for children's TV programs, and his melancholy melodies and punchy rhythms have been called the "Chūmei-busi" or "Chūmei sound". He has continued to create songs with a unique sound and melody that everyone has heard before. In honor of Mr. Watanabe, who passed away on June 23, 2022, at the age of 96, a memorial concert was held at NHK Hall in December of last year to celebrate his achievements and to present many of his masterpieces along with the voices of the splendid performers.

This year's concert will feature three of last year's performers, including Akira Kushida, who sang theme songs for "Taiyo Sentai Sambalukan" and "Space Cop Gabin," Mitsuko Horie, who sang "Baseball Madness," and Shoko Nakagawa, who loved anime songs and special effects songs and had many connections with them, as well as "Battle Fever J MoJo, who sang the theme song for "Battle Fever J" and "Taisen Taisen Goguru Five," will also appear. Mr. Watanabe's eldest son, composer Toshiyuki Watanabe, will conduct.

Mr. Toshiyuki Watanabe will conduct this sumptuous program, which will feature familiar and rare songs performed by singers with whom he is closely associated.
There will also be a special exhibition of Mr. Watanabe's scores, scripts, and autographed materials, which made a big splash at the NHK Hall performance last year.
The audience-participation chorus corner, familiar from his concerts before his death, is also scheduled to return.

The audience is invited to experience the many masterpieces left behind by Mr. Watanabe along with the singing voices of the splendid performers.
