A piggy bank "Playable Piggy Bank: Space Invaders Table Case," a 1/6th the size of the arcade game "Space Invaders," will go on sale in mid-January 2024 on the e-commerce site "e-Gumi" and other retailers. Prior to the release, the company began accepting pre-orders with purchase benefits on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. The price is 12,500 yen (including tax).

Space Invaders" is an arcade game machine planned, developed, and marketed by Taito in 1978. As a pioneer of shooting games, the game caused a huge boom in many areas, with "invader houses" becoming popular and original strategies and tricks being devised. It is still widely loved not only in Japan but around the world.

To commemorate the 45th anniversary of "Space Invaders" this year, Takara Tomy Arts will release a 1/6th size piggy bank "Playable Piggy Bank: Space Invaders Table Case" which is a miniature version of the game with a lot of attention to detail.

This product can be played with actual 100-yen coins. Just as in an arcade game, players can insert 100-yen coins into the coin slot to play a shooting game on the color LCD screen of the main unit. The design of the miniature model is as close as possible to the original cabinet, from the feel of the control panel to the stickers on the main unit and other details.

The software has also been carefully reproduced so that players can enjoy the "backstage tricks" that were popular at the time, such as the "Nagoya Shootout" and the "Rainbow". The piggy bank is the largest of its kind in the world, with a capacity of 80 pieces.

The piggy bank can hold up to 80 100-yen coins, which can be repeatedly used by removing them from the coin box at the bottom of the unit.

This product is an upgraded version of the "Space Invader Game Bank" released by Takara Tomy Co., Ltd. in 2009, using modern technology, and is being released as a new product to commemorate the 45th anniversary under the supervision of Taito.

Prior to its release in mid-January 2024, the "Playable Piggy Bank Space Invaders Table Chassis" is available for pre-order with purchase benefits from June 7, 2023 (Wed.) at eGumi, the e-commerce site of Tomy Arts, and Tokiwa Direct, an e-commerce site operated by Digilect, Ltd. and the e-commerce site "Tokiwa Direct," operated by Digilect, Inc. on consignment.
