Square Enix will release the Nintendo Switch/PlayStation5/PlayStation4/Steam "STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R" as a remake based on "STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY" released in 1998. SECOND STORY R" will be released on Thursday, November 2, 2023 (Friday, November 3 for Steam).

STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R" is a complete remake of "STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY" released in 1998.
While retaining the excitement of the past, the visuals and playability have been further refined and developed into the new "STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R." The game is now available for download from the "STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R" website.

Star Ocean reborn with the latest visual technology

The world of Star Ocean Second Story has been fully remade using the latest visual technology. Dot characters from the past run freely through fields and dungeons in full 3D. A new experience of dots but in 3D.

All-new character visuals

Yukihiro Kajimoto's illustrations for all 13 player characters and NPCs have been redesigned.
The original design has been retained, while creating a clearer image of what the game once looked like.

The "easy for anyone" and "exhilarating" battles have evolved even further!

Battles are real-time action, where players can easily activate their skills with the touch of a button.
In addition, new elements have been added in this title, such as the ability to stun enemies with a series of attacks, and to have friends outside the party perform follow-up attacks.
More strategic battles can be played out.
The effects and motions have been further refined, making battles more exhilarating than ever.

<STORY>
Claude C. Kenny, a young officer of the Galactic Federation, under the command of his superior officer and father, Lonikis, is a young man who is on a mission to discover the planet Milokinia.
While investigating a mysterious dome discovered on the planet Miloquinia, he finds an unfamiliar device.

To show his bravery, Claude touches the device without hearing Lonnikis' warning and is enveloped in a blinding light, disappearing from the scene.
