TACTICAL UNIT COMMANDER AIRCRAFT X.U.A.-000 GENESIS" is a Chinese-made plastic model with excellent deformation, detail, and proportions!
When you are a working adult, you tend to have a lot of plastic models piled up in your busy life. ...... In this series, Yasuyuki Tai, a voice actor who loves robots and plastic models, takes on the challenge of building plastic models on your behalf!
The concept is "even busy working people can make it this far on their weekends off. There are only two rules: bare bones assembly and a production period of one to two days! If you read this series, you will surely find the plastic model you want to build.
So, "Weekend Plastic Model Making by Voice Actor Taiyuki! Let's start the 78th issue!
Tai Yuuki's Weekend Plastic Model Show No. 78 TACTICAL UNIT COMMANDER AIRCRAFT X.U.A.-000 GENESIS
This time, we would like to introduce a plastic kit from a foreign maker, "TACTICAL UNIT COMMANDER AIRCRAFT X.U.A.-000 GENESIS" from R.C.W. Many of you may have seen this robot on Amazon or other sites.
Although the details of the story in which this robot appears are unknown, I have been curious about it since I saw it at first glance, so I decided to review the kit this time.
If this article is well received, we will continue to actively deal with overseas plastic kits in the future, so please do not hesitate to read to the end.
The illustration on the package is also wonderful. It depicts GENESIS in flight form and humanoid form at the point where the light of the sun begins to appear from the horizon.
On the other side, the words "GENESIS ARRIVAL! on the other side, the humanoid form of GENESIS is depicted with the words "GENESIS ARRIVAL! The flying form is depicted in the back. It is quite a beautiful illustration.
The number of runners is about 30, which is a lot. A solid base and clear parts of the same type in different colors are included. The contents are very complete.
Foil stickers and water-transfer decals are also included for attaching to the sensor parts. Since it took me a long time to assemble this model (about 2 hours just to assemble it), I will only show you the part where the foil stickers are attached.
Let's take a look at the completed model first.
It looks just like its master. The main colors are white and blue, with red, yellow, and two-color clear parts scattered throughout, creating a well-balanced color scheme. The low position of the wings and other interesting features make for a very interesting finish.
Looking at the back, the stabilizers extend downward with the backpack in the center, and the main engine and wings are placed on both sides of the stabilizers. A thruster unit cum missile pod extends from the top.
The area of the wings is pleasant.
Upper body. Antenna parts extending forward like the horns of a "demon" and blue parts on the forehead characterize the face of this GENESIS. The twin cameras are covered with green foil stickers. Other small parts are also covered with stickers that resemble sensors. The internal frame is also finely sculpted and will be an interesting work of art when painted.
The gray areas visible through the gaps in the white shoulder armor and blue armor are exposed internal frame parts. You can see that the parts are highly accurate, as they can be assembled tightly without any particular adjustments.
The fine details are also sharply sculpted. Color coding is all done by dividing the parts. This means that there are a large number of parts, but it also means that the finished product can be completed to this level without painting.
It is interesting that the clear orange parts are placed in the center of the waist. The same clear orange parts are placed at the knees, which form a triangle with that as the apex, which also gives a sense of visual stability.
The skirt armor also has a structure where the internal structure can be seen through the gaps. Yet it features a smooth armored surface. It was pleasant to touch.
Legs. The gray hexagonal parts on both sides of the calves may be hard point covers that could be used to attach additional armament.
The exquisite bumps on the shin armor serve to make the surface less monotonous. The internal frame visible behind the clear parts of the shins is sexy.
The shape of the toes is like a human shoe, with the part that touches the thumb extending to the very front. There are not many plastic kits that use this balance yet, but I am surprised that ...... is going to incorporate this. It must have been designed by someone who is quite "fond" of it.
This is the left leg. The photo was taken from the front, so you can clearly see that the shape of one toe is asymmetrical. The ankle cover armor is also asymmetrical.
The shin armor is split into left and right sections, but the mold is stepped down and there is also detailing inside the stepped down section to prevent the joints from showing.
On the inside of the upper surface of the shoulder armor, there is a line of plate-like details that look like heat sinks. The white plate in the middle of those plates houses the canard wings in flight form.
The elbow joints are made up of two colored parts. This is good. The forearms are covered by the internal frame with armor from all sides, so there are no mating joints.
Let's look at the back. First, let's start with the small thruster unit (the manual calls it PROPELLER). The inner double thrusters can swing slightly up and down.
The inner side of this armor is also lined with plate-like parts. A handgun is mounted on the side of the unit.
The white armor on the upper surface is a hatch with double hinges that opens to reveal three missiles inside. The missiles are also color-coded. The hatch is also color-coded, and the part where you hook your fingernails when opening the hatch has been designed as a detail, so it does not look like a toy.
These are the large main thrusters and wing units. The small green and red points are handled with stickers. The other coloring is naturally done in separate parts. The coloring and modeling of the wings are both sharp and superb.
As you may have noticed at this point, many "undergates" have been used, so that the gate marks that occur when the parts are separated from the runner are barely visible. Although there is some concern that it may be time-consuming to cut them out, or that they may not be assembled properly unless they are cut out cleanly, they are probably the most suitable gates for beautifully completing the model in the unassembled state.
Shield. The simple silhouette and parts configuration give the impression of robustness. The clear green part is the part that will become the nose of the plane when it transforms into flight form. It is not the actual cockpit position, but it is designed where the canopy of the airplane should be, which makes it fit in nicely.
While the surface looks simple, the back side is filled with details. The red cable is a nice accent.
The connection to the arm is firmly fixed at the two joints indicated by the red arrows.
Buster rifle. The long barrel, small radome and other sensors are scattered around to give the equipment a high degree of accuracy for long-range shooting. Of course, all of the coloring is done by dividing the parts.
Incidentally, this top and bottom are in the correct position, and the grip is the type that comes up against the rifle body.
Here is the bottom. The silhouette is clean, but the details, bumps, and slopes give it a shape that you will never get tired of.
Sensors are located on the left and right sides of the rifle, each of which may have its own role.
When putting it in the hand, the parts of four fingers other than the thumb are replaced with weapon handles.
The joint parts attached to the white parts at the rear can be inserted into the connection holes on the forearm to hold it firmly in place.
This is the fully equipped state. Despite being equipped with two large arms, the sharp image is maintained. It is a triumph of coloring and design.
Next is the pedestal. The wide base and thick arms make it a real work of art. On the top side, the included card can be set.
The package illustration is printed on the back of the card. You can use the included card, insert your own original card, or put a photo of your favorite child! (← Maybe not that one.)
The arm is extendable.
The part that connects to GENESIS can also be angled.
When attaching in humanoid form, insert the pedestal attachment parts into the square thrusters at the rear of the waist.
Attachment parts for the flight form are shown here. Naturally, it can be displayed in either form.
There is so much to see, here is where we finally check out the movability!
The head has ball joints at the top and bottom of the neck. It moves well as it turns 180 degrees in a deformation.
Shoulders are connected with a combination of axial joints. The arms can be lifted straight up in a way that takes advantage of the back and forth rotation, and can also be lifted horizontally over 90°.
The shoulder armor can also be slightly raised.
Shoulders have a pull-out joint and can swing forward.
Roll rotation is possible at the connection between the second arm and shoulder. Elbows are double-jointed for deformation gimmick and can be bent about 180 degrees.
The wrist connection is a ball joint. The base of the wrist is also movable and can be snapped deeply.
The waist connection is also a deformation gimmick that allows the figure to rotate 180°, so it can be turned around.
The waist can also be bent forward, backward, left and right.
The skirt armor at the waist can be raised so the legs can be opened back and forth.
The key point is that the hip joint connection axis is positioned slightly forward.
The left and right leg openings are also shown.
The front skirt can be raised to almost directly above the ground. The side skirts are also over 90 degrees. These armors may be used to create movement when posing.
The side skirts can also swing back and forth.
The rear skirt armor can also be raised.
Thanks to the deformation gimmick, it can be deployed left or right, or folded around the base of the wings.
It can roll and rotate on the thighs.
The knees are also multi-positioned and can be bent to where they meet the calf armor.
The ankles are a combination of axial connections, so retention is solid. However, the ankle armor is surprisingly tight, so it is difficult to make it move greatly from side to side.
The toes can be lifted and extended downward.
The stabilizers on the main block of the backpack are also movable.
The small thruster unit is connected by an arm composed of multiple parts, so it can be moved quite flexibly.
The movability of the wing unit is also quite excellent, and this image is just a small part of the movable examples.
Haaaaah!"
Let's pose the figure in action in humanoid form. Considering that she is not equipped with a melee weapon, she may be able to fight in combat. First, a flying kick.
Teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
A punch while jumping!
Genesis, let's go!
He gets his equipment ready and sets out once again! His knee armor is so big, he can stand on one knee.
Target locked on!
This weapon looks like it could reap your enemies in a single blow.
Target destroyed!
Fingers for left and right flat hands are also included.
The pedestal allows the figure to be displayed in flight mode.
You can also use the flat hands to create poses like this.
GENESIS is desperately trying to control its attitude by firing its thrusters at full power.
Maximum output! Sink!
The handgun mounted on the small thruster unit is held in the hand with the grip deployed.
Since it is not equipped with melee weapons, the handgun is likely to be useful in close quarters combat. The shield is turned backwards so as not to be a distraction.
Checkmate!
The handgun is also composed of parts in several colors. Green stickers are attached to the sensor parts.
Now it's time to transform it into flight form! We will omit the details, but please take a look at the atmosphere of the transformation.
Small thruster unit is collapsed.
The horns of the head are ball-joint connected. Close its horns.
Rotate the head 180°.
Bend both arms at the elbows while deploying the shoulder armor.
Move the hip joints laterally and move both feet outward.
Deform the knee joint into an S-shape and contract up and down.
Extend the toes downwards and point the yellow part of the ankle armor downwards.
Deploy the rear skirt wings to the left and right and rotate the upper body 180° around at the waist.
Tilt the body and move the backpack backward.
Rotate the wings to form a retractable wing.
Adjust the position of each thruster unit.
Remove the connecting parts of the buster rifle. ......
Open the hatch on the opposite side of the grip to store the white block.
Close the hatch and slide the blue part at the tip forward to complete the transformation of the buster rifle.
Dock it with the main body in a position to be pinched by the joints in the shoulder armor.
For the shield, remove the connecting parts to the arms and deploy the connecting shaft for the flight form.
Attach the joint parts for the shield connection to the hollow on the back. ......
Attach the shield and the transformation to flight form is complete!
The flight form is sharp and powerful, with a total length that would overhang the pedestal by a good margin. The deformation and movement of each part was also excellent.
The clear green parts on the shield give it an aircraft-like appearance.
The silhouette is also very sharp. The position of both feet have been moved to the outside, which is a personal burning point.
It is so sharp that it looks like it could be charged with the tip of a buster rifle.
The four thrusters, which can be seen from the rear, also give off a nice atmosphere.
View from the side. The figure is a bit lumpy, but the sharpness of the overall modeling combined with the sharpness of the body shape does not give it a "lumpy" feeling.
A view from the bottom. As expected, some parts of the humanoid form can be seen, but this is acceptable for a sci-fi mecha.
The connection with the pedestal. The upper and lower body are connected via a part that straddles and fixes the upper and lower body.
There is no firm toy-like lock, so positioning the wing unit may be a little difficult.
The missile hatch can be opened and closed in this state. This is about the gimmick introduction in flight form.
So, how was the GENESIS, which was introduced with many images as a stand-alone plastic kit? It seems that this manufacturer, R.C.W., will continue to develop their original robot kits with great vigor. This time it was a transformable mecha, but what kind of mecha will they come up with next? It will be interesting to see what they come up with next!
As for the comfort of assembling the kit, it is almost on par with kits made by Japanese manufacturers. It can be assembled so far without any glue.
Incidentally, snap-fit kits, including this kit, have a limit to the number of parts that can be fixed, so you can use glue if you find parts that you think tend to come off easily.
Also, although I could not apply decals this time because I ran out of time, some decals are elaborate in design, so I would like to find time to upload the kit with decals on it on Twitter or Instagram sometime in the future.
If you have any other overseas kits you would like to see reviewed, please send us the information in the comments section of the article or by replying to Akiba Research Institute's Twitter.
See you soon!
