First time at the Shizuoka Hobby Show! Sharpen like a mechanical pencil! AIGER TOOL's "KOKUBOSO-SOZO! Review of "Numa Yasuri" by Aiger Tool! The Tool Way! The 16th Edition!

Hello, this is Karyas! This is the 16th edition of "The Tool Way! In this 16th issue of "The Tool Way! Numa Yasuri" which is now on the market from Aiger Tool!

Hello everyone! The Corona disaster is finally coming to an end, and exhibitions and events are being actively held in various places!

And at the Shizuoka Hobby Show 2023, which was successfully held last month, manufacturers unveiled their new products one after another. Among them, we were particularly interested in the latest tool "Kyokuboso! (hereafter referred to as "Numayasuri"), a new tool that we were particularly interested in!

The design and mechanism of the body of the swamp file, other than the file, may differ from the production version.

Who is Aiger Tool?

Aiger Tool is a tool manufacturer headquartered in Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture. It is a manufacturer that develops and sells not only cutting tools for models, but also various other tools such as electric tools, lights, and disaster prevention goods for use in DIY and gardening. Incidentally, "Eiger," which is both the company name and the brand name, is derived from the Eiger North Face, a difficult mountain climbing spot in Switzerland famous for its sharp rock walls.

A mechanical pencil and a file are combined!

The greatest feature of the Numayasu is that it can be filed just like using a mechanical pencil. Existing files also have an ultra-fine type, but the Numa File has diameters of 0.3 mm and 0.5 mm!

The body part is made directly from the body of a mechanical pencil, so the usage is the same as that of a regular mechanical pencil. When not in use, the file can be retracted to prevent damage or injury, and the body of the currently distributed commercial version has a grip to prevent rolling and slipping!

In addition, there are three different grades, #400, #600, and #800, so you can use them in different ways depending on your purpose!

Currently available at "Tools Online Rakuten Ichiba Store" and "Tools Online Yahoo Shop" for the reasonable price of 2,980 yen including tax (free shipping).

By the way, "Kyokubosotto! and "Kyokuso! Numa Yasuri" can also be purchased at the above online store, so if you purchase both of them as a set, you will be able to file even more easily!

The quality of the file is high!

The quality of the file itself is of interest to me. You may think, "It's so thin that it will snap right off! You may think, "It's so thin, it's likely to snap right off! The file has excellent durability and flexibility, so it can be bent so hard!

The file's total length is 50 mm, so it can be used for intricate parts. Furthermore, since the file is made of electrodeposited diamond, it can be used to file not only plastic, but also various metals, glass, reinforced plastic, and hard rubber!

First, let's check how it feels!

This time, we would like to review the Numa Yasu with a diameter of 0.5mm and #800. First, I simply sharpened a plastic runner and a brass wire of 1mm diameter.

I was able to sharpen it without any problem! It is lightweight, so my hands don't get tired, and because it is ultrafine, it is ideal for when I have a pinpoint spot that I want to sharpen. The brass wire I used this time is #800, so if you want to sharpen more, you can use #400.

There are also three types of grinders, #400, #600, and #800, so you can choose the one you want to use depending on your purpose!

Let's prepare the mold of the figure!

Next, I would like to use it for ultra-fine molding of figures.

Legs of a 1/35 soldier figure, made in the 1970s. I want to carve a slightly shallow concave mold in depth while cutting the parting line above the gaiters (leg ties) that wrap around the legs.

First, I will use a design knife to cut the parting line. Be careful not to shave too much!

Since the mold has become a little shallow, I carve with a serration carving tool. There are various tools for carving lines, but this time I used a modeling scriber (official price: 1,430 yen including tax) available from Hasegawa.

Once the mold is restored to some extent, it is time to use the Numayasu! The molds, which have become slightly distorted due to the re-scribing, can be cleaned up.

Finally, melt the shavings with a plastic pouring adhesive to complete the process!

The mold is now cleanly shaped! When actually producing the mold, you can finish it more beautifully by painting it after spraying it with a surfacer.

Furthermore, there are three types of #400, #600, and #800, so you can use them in different ways depending on your purpose!

Can also be utilized for homemade molds!

Finally, I will try to do the same thing with my own molds.

Using the modeling scriber introduced earlier, carve a square mold on a plastic plate.

However, when actually making your own molds, use a ruler and tape for guidelines, and carefully carve in lines!

After carving, smooth the surface with a sponge file. I used #240 as the file size.

A square mold is ready.

Then, melt the shavings with a plastic pouring adhesive, and the mold is ready! But from here, I would like to emphasize the mold more by utilizing Numayasu.

Since the plastic is softened by the glue, I was able to easily carve deeply by simply tracing the mold with the swamp file!

The uneven surface and plastic shavings created during the process can be scraped off by simply rubbing with the tip of the swamp file. The plastic debris that has accumulated inside the mold can be melted by pouring adhesive as needed.

You can clearly see the difference between the areas carved deeply with the swamp file and the areas not carved deeply with the swamp file. By repeating this process, it is possible to deepen and thicken only certain parts of the mold!

Furthermore, there are three different grades of #400, #600, and #800, so you can use them in different ways depending on your purpose!

Now, what do you think? We also have #400 and #600 Numayasuri, which we couldn't introduce this time, as well as "Koku Usu! Numayasuri," which we couldn't introduce this time, will further improve your work efficiency.
See you again soon!
