A special trailer has been released for the movie "The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of Gegege" which will be released on November 17, 2023 (Friday) to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki's birth.

The movie "The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of Gegege" is a theatrical film commemorating the 100th anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki's birth, which tells for the first time about "the birth of Kitaro" and his old boss, Oyaji, whom everyone seems to know but does not.
The director is Go Koga, who also directed "Gegege no Kitaro the Movie: Japan Explodes! The screenplay is by Hiroyuki Yoshino, known for his work on the TV animation "Macross F," and the character design is by Toruko Yatabe, a young up-and-coming director who worked as an assistant director on the "Shin Evangelion Theater Version.

The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGeGe" Special Report Details

In addition to the already announced Miyuki Sawashiro who played Kitaro in the TV animation version of "Gegege no Kitaro" (6th season) and Masako Nozawa who played Oyaji, the cast members will be announced at the "Manga Kingdom Tottori 101st Anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki's Birthday" held on March 5 (Sun). The special video clip released this time shows the appearance of Toshio Furukawa, who played Nezumi Otoko in the TV animation version of "Gegege no Kitaro" (the 6th season).

The special video released this time begins with images of the entire series from the first TV animation season that started in 1968 to the sixth season that started airing in 2008, as if looking back on the history of "Gegege no Kitaro" through the years.
Kitaro in each period evokes a sense of nostalgia for people of various ages, and reminds us that "Gegege no Kitaro" is a national animation that has been loved for over 50 years.

And finally, a close-up of Mizuki being surprised by something and a close-up of Kitaro's father slowly turning his eyes from the film "The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of Gegege" are shown for the first time. This is the most abominable story ever told. The familiar sound of clogs, Kitaro's father sitting in a prison-like place, Mizuki sitting through a grate, Mizuki holding up a vial that looks like a medicine ampoule, and finally Kitaro's father looking into his eyes are also shown for the first time.
