Nakano Sunplaza was rocked by "Anime Song Disco! A "danceable" event with a full lineup of guests! Ani-song DJ event! Report on "Ani-song Disco - The most exciting subculture super battle in Nakano
Anison Disco, an anime song club event led by a group of comedians, will be held at Nakano Sunplaza on June 22, 2023, under the title "Danceable! Ani-song DJ event! Anison Disco - Tobikkiri no Nakano Subculture Super Battle" was held at Nakano Sunplaza on June 22, 2023.
Nakano Sunplaza is a cultural complex that includes a hotel, wedding hall, culture center, sports facilities, concerts, and event halls, and since its opening in 1973, it has been a landmark in Nakano Ward known as a cultural center for young people.
However, it has been decided to close the current facility on July 2, 2023. Therefore, the "Farewell Nakano Sun Plaza Music Festival" was held for two months from May 3 to July 2, 2023.
As part of the festival, "You can dance! Ani-song DJ event! Ani-song Disco - The most exciting Nakano subculture super battle" was held as a part of the festival. In addition to the comedy duo "BANBANBAN" and other comedian DJs who preside over the ani-song disco, artists with ties to Nakano such as Happy Around! The varied lineup saw off Nakano Sun Plaza.
■Opening Act
The first thing that surprised me when I entered the hall before the show began was that the ani-song disco DJs and guest DJs Ryuichi Sumikawa, SO-1 His Highness, and Rizmani were already on stage, dancing around to the non-stop ani-song background music. Yes, today is "Anikura (a club event that mainly plays anime songs) in Nakano Sunplaza!
From this point on, we were to leave ourselves to the torrent of sound for a little less than three hours.
After the venue was warmed up by the "10-minute DJ relay," in which each DJ had 10 minutes to show his or her love for Nakano, it was time to start the "Danceable! Ani-song DJ event! Ani-song Disco - The most exciting subculture super battle in Nakano" started off.
The opening act was "BLUE☆GIRLS" from Shimao Dance Company, a local dance team from Nakano Ward. Formed by elementary and junior high school girls, the "BLUE☆GIRLS" were dressed in authentic "Uma Musume" cosplay and danced to "Umapyoyo Densetsu!
I was going to write ...... about how cute it was to see the kids trying their best, but they had picked up the original choreography and their dance moves were in perfect sync with each other. I was expecting to be disappointed with the performance.
The dance kids of Nakano, a town of culture, are indeed a force to be reckoned with. They can't be underestimated.
Happy Around!
Next up was "Happy Around!", with BANBANBANBAN's Ichirokuso Sameshima providing DJ entertainment during the stage changes. a unit that appears in the "D4DJ" series, which has appeared in a variety of media, including anime and video games.
The model for Yoha Academy, the setting of the anime, is Nakano Sun Plaza, and it was the first and last Nakano Sun Plaza to be used as a venue! Moreover, it will be the first and last live performance of Happy Around! Moreover, Bushiroad, the company that manages "D4DJ", has its headquarters in Nakanosakaue. This is truly a super battle of the Nakano subculture!
Yuka Nishio, Haruka Mimura, and Maiko Irie, the three performers for this year's event, were led by a black uniform through the crowd, and the background music was "Bakusho Sengen," the entrance theme song of the late Shinya Hashimoto, a professional wrestler.
Today's event was truly a pro-wrestling event, with DJs, live music, dancers, and artists of various genres all performing their own techniques! Bushiroad also operates New Japan Pro-Wrestling! I was impressed, and later on Mr. Samejima told me on Twitter that the reason for the song selection was "in reference to the Three Musketeers of the Fighting Spirit. I see!
After I was grinning at this rather deep story, the Hapiala stage started.
Starting with their first single "Happy Music♪," the audience was quickly enlivened by original songs such as "Around and Around," "Kokoro Odoru" and "Sparkling Daydream," and then Milky Holmes' "The Right Answer is One! is not! by Milky Holmes, which was very impressive.
Midway through the performance, Irie-san performed with a shorkie in his hands. The stage performance, which he has trained at many events, enlivened the early part of the event.
REAL AKIBA BOYZ
Next up was "REAL AKIBA BOYZ" (RAB), who held a free one-man live performance at Nakano Sunplaza to celebrate their 10th anniversary in 2017. They are a dance group that has been active since the late 2000s, long before anime songs and club events first met, and they were certainly one of the originators of the anikura scene. It was inevitable that they would take the stage this time.
This time, they were joined by eight members, not including Keitan.
The eight members walked through the audience with "INOKI BOM-BA-YE" as background music and went on stage to open the show with "Ojamajo Carnival," a YouTube hit.
They followed with "Demon Slayer" OP "Kourenka" and "SPY x FAMILY" 1st cool OP "Mixed Nuts", both generally popular standard ani-songs, and showed off their brilliant dance moves. Then, under the message "I want to express my gratitude to Nakano Broadway," they showed a delightful line dance to "Sugar Song and Bitter Step," the ED of "Bloodline. It was impressive to see the eight members with big smiles on their faces and shoulders, while the audience was also shaking their bodies shoulder to shoulder with their comrades beside them. An indescribable euphoric feeling enveloped the floor.
The last song was "Aozora no Rhapsody" from "Kobayashi-sanchi no Maidragon" OP. The members of fhana who sang the original song also performed the dance in the music video, so of course RAB respected the original material and copied the dance almost perfectly. I was surprised to see a good number of audience members dancing to the original song! Looking around the venue, I was deeply impressed by the fact that this song is truly loved by the audience. I was deeply impressed as I looked around the venue and realized how much the songs are loved by the audience!
The Lethal Weapons
Next up was "The Lethal Weapons," a music unit from Tokyo Metropolitan Isei!
Mr. I Kid (guitar) and Mr. Cyborg Joe (vocals) entered with an entrance song arranged from the opening demo of "Street Fighter II" and hit their signature song "80's Action Star" instead of greeting the audience!
Aniki! Aniki!" The band then proceeded to perform a super combo of killer tunes, including "Shoryuken ga Nai" and "Tokaido Chu Hizakurige".
Then, they sang "Mission Impossible," a new song about how they were ordered by the great man to sing the theme song from the movie "Mission Impossible" with the lyrics, and how hard it was for them to sing it. The audience was again whipped into a frenzy with the best of the ague songs, "Hoppy and Happy" and "Kimi wa Motherfucker.
I would have loved to just crash into the drinking district behind Broadway and get a hoppy kick out of it, but the party was not over yet!
Asakika
The final guest artist, Asaka, performed live with DJ play by her close friend Ichirokusan Samejima.
Her entrance song was "Spartan X." It is the theme song of the late Mitsuharu Misawa, the longest reigning holder of the Triple Crown Heavyweight Title. ...... can find out why Ms. Asaka used this song for her entrance. It will be revealed later.
Summer is just around the corner! So, Ms. Asaka sang "Natsumu Noisy," the OP song of "Summertime Renda" in the second half of the year. She followed with "Higurashi When They Cry Kyo" OP "I believe whar you said," a song that is gaining popularity on subscription services. She also performed "Mob's God's," the grand ending theme song for the game "ANONYMOUS;CODE," which is set in Nakano. What a powerful voice!
During the MC session, she mentioned that she was thinking about what she could do as an "anime song singer," and her thoughts were clear: "This is what it means to express the appeal of a work through song and performance! She is a singer who is thinking about what she can do "as an ani-song singer".
As an artist, she had a dream to do a one-man show at Nakano Sunplaza, but she thought her dream would never come true because of the closing of the Sunplaza amidst the loss of live performance opportunities due to the Corona disaster over the past few years. I'm so happy! He was happy to hear that.
He was happy to be able to perform at Nakano Sun-plaza for the first time and the last time.
As for the answer to the previous question about "Spartan X," when they performed their new song "Triple crown," Asaka told the audience that the song was written with the idea of "aiming for the triple crown of singing, talking, and visuals. In other words, "Triple crown" = Triple Crown King = Mitsuharu Misawa = "Spartan X" was the theme song!
What an allusion game that started so far away from home!
Finally, she left the stage with "SHINY DAYS," the OP song from "Yuru Can△," filling the venue with a happy atmosphere.
Anime Song Disco
You can dance! Ani-song DJ event! Anison Disco - The most exciting subculture super battle in Nakano", and of course, our own Anison Disco decorated the last part of the event.
Started by Ichirokuso Samejima and Seigo Yamamoto of BANBANBAN, Anison Disco is a group of comedians who play mainly anime songs as DJs. As such, a festive stage was set up for what one might call musical entertainment.
Speaking of BANBANBAN, Mr. Yamamoto's Master Frieza! So, when "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F" battle song "F" was played following "Dragon Ball Super" OP "Limit Breaker x Survivor," a chorus of "Freeza Freeza Freeza Freeza! The chorus of "Freeza Freeza Freeza Freeza! This was the moment when the "Frieza" call was heard more than any other in Japan or the world.
When "Space Cobra" OP "Cobra" was played, everyone danced together. When a saxophone solo was played during the interlude, Frieza-sama enlivened the audience with a saxophone-like performance using his tail!
On the other hand, his partner Samejima challenged the audience to an illusion with "only my railgun" from "Toaru Kagaku no Railgun" OP! The audience cheered loudly as he passed through the ring to the levitating Master Frieza.
The grand finale was "Romantic I'll Give You", the ED of "Dragon Ball"! I am sure I was not the only one who felt a rush of excitement as the audience united in a chorus of "Romantic I'll Give You~♪". People born, raised, and with different backgrounds can be united through ani-song. ...... I am sure that I have felt this feeling at every anime event that I used to enjoy as a matter of course. However, due to the self-restraint caused by the Corona disaster, I think everyone has forgotten about it. Thank you, Anison Disco, for reminding us of that. And thank you Nakano Sunplaza for giving us such a wonderful night!
You certainly gave me a romantic experience!
It should be noted that Nakano Sunplaza is scheduled to be demolished once and then opened as a new facility in 2028. I would like to leave this entry with the hope that the ani-song disco will be held again at the reborn Nakano Sunplaza.
