Director Yoshitomo Yonetani was thrilled to see the 25th anniversary exhibition of "GaoGaiGar, King of the Braves," which opened on July 14!
An exhibition commemorating the 25th anniversary of the popular anime "King of the Braves: GaoGaiGar," the final work in the "Yuusha Series" that gained popularity in the 1990s and continued to develop in various media after its broadcast, will be held from July 14 (Friday) to 30 (Sunday), 2023, at the Movida pavilion in Shibuya, Western Tokyo.
GaoGaiGar the King of Heroes" is the eighth and final work in the "Hero Series," which was first broadcast on TV in 1998.
The series has many highlights, such as the friendship between the main character, the cyborg Gai Shishio, and the boy Mamoru Amami, the seemingly ridiculous but profound mechanical settings and descriptions, and the dramatic storyline. As a result, the "Yusha Series" has become a popular series.
As a result, it has become a work that boasts of great popularity, with a sequel OVA, a sequel novel, a comic book adaptation, and multiple releases of 3D figures by multiple manufacturers, which is rare for the "Yusha" series.
The year 2023 marks the 25th anniversary of "GaoGaiGar, King of the Braves," and a commemorative exhibition that will allow visitors to view the entire history of the series will be held from July 14 (Fri.) to 30 (Sun.), 2023, at the Seibu Shibuya Store's Movida Kan in Tokyo.
Director YOSHITOMO YONETANI also attended the exhibition.
He could not hide his joy at the fact that the commemorative exhibition of his memorable works was being held at a milestone in his life, saying, "I am 60 years old this year, so I guess [GaoGaiGar] is celebrating my 60th birthday.
When the topic turned to the contents of the exhibition, it was mentioned that many of the goods and toys from that time were not kept even within Namco Bandai Filmworks, and therefore, some of Director Yonetani's personal belongings and some items that he had given to others but had temporarily returned for this exhibition were also on display.
Director Yonetani's personal belongings are also mixed in with the toy collection of the time.
When asked about the highlights of the exhibition, he replied, "Pictures that only the staff knew about, and items that were never actually used (setting materials). Since this work was partly a toy promotion animation, "many of the items no longer appear in the animation because the toys are no longer produced," he said, and such fantastic setting materials are also on display in this exhibition.
There are also premium exhibits such as beautiful celluloid drawings, initial setting materials, and planning documents!
One of them is "Star GaoGaiGar." Today, GaoGaiGar with upgraded combining parts is called Star GaoGaiGar, but it was a completely different form in the beginning. At the event, visitors may be able to see the phantom "Star GaoGaiGar" as well!
Director Yonetani also chimed in, "If we can get it out on some other occasion, ....... Perhaps the Kings of the Brave Kings will return in a new form in the future. ......?
In addition to the TV series, setting materials for sequels such as the OVA "Final" and the novel "The High King: GaoGaiGar vs.
Director Yonetani also pointed to the display of various human-sized equipment as another highlight of the exhibition.
He was particularly concerned about whether the Gordion Hammer would fit in the exhibition hall, so it was a relief to see it safely on display.
The Goldion Hammer, Broken Magnum, Dividing Driver, and Gao Breath are on display as a photo spot, so please take a commemorative photo of yourself as the King of the Braves!
Each tool was created especially for this exhibition. Let's take a commemorative photo!
The sales corner is also well-stocked. Don't miss the sample exhibit of the large-volume book " King of the Braves Gaogaigar Official Setting Documents Glorious Gaogaigar Generation," as well as other fan-favorite items!
The latest hobbies scheduled for release in the future will also be on display. GaoGaiGar" is not over yet!
Samples of the " King of Heroes Gaogaigar Official Setting Documents Glorious Gaogaigar Generation," a book with thickness and content befitting its 25th anniversary, will be on display.
