We attended the "Pokémon Sleep" media preview event held at "Snow Peak FIELD SUITE SPA HEADQUARETRS" in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture on July 11-12, 2023, and would like to report on the event.

The game screen in this article is under development.

In the middle of the wilderness!

The venue for the "Pokémon Sleep" trial event was the "Snow Peak FIELD SUITE SPA HEADQUARETRS" campground in Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture. It was about a two-hour ride on the Joetsu Shinkansen from Tokyo Station. At that time, I had no idea how "Pokémon Sleep" and "Niigata" would be connected.

Upon arrival at the campsite, I downloaded the "Pokémon Sleep" application, received a tutorial, and was ready to start playing the game, when, to my surprise, a lecture on how to set up camp and how to use the tools began.

I will explain the contents of "Pokémon Sleep" in a little later, but I must say that I could not start without going to sleep! In order to ensure a flawless application experience, there were apparently a variety of recreational activities for all participants to ensure as much restful sleep as possible. Moreover, tomorrow morning there will be a "sleep score" competition among participating media.
I am usually a short sleeper, but this time, I was able to get a good night's sleep, which was quite interesting.

Here is the bed for the night that was prepared for me!

As a side note, when I camp, I have only used cheap tents that cost around 5,000 yen, so when I was offered such a nice tent, I was unintentionally excited. I spent about 30 minutes just checking out the tent and preparing the sleeping area, opening and closing all the zippers for no reason, and trying to get in and out of the tent from various entrances.

In the center of the venue was an exhibit inspired by the visuals in the game.

In addition, related goods scheduled to be released at the Pokémon Center in the future were also on display.
These included plush toys that recreate the sleeping appearance of Pokémon and a "Merryp's Light Alarm Clock," which notifies you in the morning with sound and light.

Since this would be a camp article at this point, let me explain the story and system of "Pokémon Sleep" at this point.

What is "Pokémon Sleep"?

The sleep synchronization device developed by Dr. Neroli, who studies Pokémon sleep ecology, amplifies Kabigon's sleep power, synchronizing the player's sleep with Kabigon's. The player's sleep and Kabigon's sleep are synchronized. The player researches the sleeping faces of Pokémon that gather around Kabigon, drawn by its sleep power, and aims to complete the "Pokémon Sleeping Face Book.

System

Pokémon Sleep" is a "sleep game application" that measures the player's sleeping state when he or she falls asleep and collects the sleeping faces of various Pokémon according to the results.

Basically, the game is played in a weekly cycle, with a field (island) selected every Monday, and the player proceeds with sleep research while raising the Kabigon encountered in that field. The Pokémon that can be found in each field are different, and as the days of the week progress, more Sleep Power is accumulated, so the closer you get to the weekend, the more Pokémon you will encounter and the more rare they will be.

The daily cycle is as follows: "measure sleep" at night, "research sleeping faces" of Pokémon gathered the next morning, and "grow Kabigon" in cooperation with Pokémon during the day. Finally, the goal is to "complete the Pokémon Sleeping Faces Pictorial Book.

Sleep is measured by placing a smartphone with the "Pokémon Sleep" app installed or the "Pokémon GO Plus +," which will be released on July 14, 2023, under the user's pillow.

Pokémon Sleep" not only measures sleep time, but also classifies sleep types into three categories: dozing type, sleeping type, and sleeping type. Various Pokémon gather according to the player's sleep type, and the player feeds the gathered Pokémon with "Poké Sable. When players become friends with the Pokémon, they become "Oteidai Pokémon" and join the Pokémon group.
These Pokémon help Kabigon grow during the day.

The key to "Pokémon Sleep" is the player's "sleep. Pokémon Sleep" is a rare "sleep game app" that perfectly combines the elements of "game" and "sleep," which are normally incompatible with each other.

Dinner, hot springs, and sleep!

After a good night's sleep was secured, we were invited to a BBQ.
From somewhere, I heard, "Don't eat only meat! Eat vegetables too! but we ate only meat to our heart's content.
I'm not sure if it was for work or leisure, but I hope you will agree that it was definitely a preparation for the work of getting a good night's sleep.

To my surprise, they even handed out "Pillkle Miracle Care," which says it "improves sleep quality and reduces fatigue," and they are seriously trying to get us to sleep. ......

After enjoying the BBQ, the next stop was the hot springs!
Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take pictures inside the hot springs, so please visit the official Snow Peak FIELD SUITE SPA HEADQUARETRS page (https://www.snowpeak.co.jp/fieldsuitespa/hq/spa/big/) to see what the hot springs are like. Please check the official page of Snow Peak FIELD SUITE SPA HEADQUARETRS ().

Although it is becoming more and more doubtful whether this is my job or not, I was allowed to take a relaxing soak in the hot spring with tears in my eyes for the sake of "a good night's sleep," the hard work that awaits me later on.

I heard that if the sky is clear, you can see stars in the sky at this campground, but unfortunately, it became cloudy in the evening, so we could not see any stars.

Finally, we started our work!

After enjoying the BBQ and hot springs, it was time to get to work.
All I had to do was tap the "Nemuru" button on the app, place my smartphone face down on my pillow, and fall asleep.

Finally, the results of the game are in!

When you wake up the next morning, you can see your "sleep report. The author's sleep score was 83, which is 7 hours and 2 minutes.
Incidentally, sleeping more than 8 hours and 30 minutes is considered 100 points.
And in the "Sleep Graph," 16% of the respondents were "dozing," 65% were "sleeping soundly," and 19% were "sleeping soundly," indicating that today's sleep type is the "sleeping soundly" type.

As mentioned earlier, the type of Pokémon that appears changes depending on the type.
It seems that Koratta and Hitokage appear as Sleepy-Type Pokémon.
The "Nemuke Power," which can be called the overall rating of sleep, was 3,320,000.

A total of five Pokémon were attracted by this "Sleep Type" and "Nemuke Power": Hitokage, Sonanth, Girdie, and two Yadon.

After the research (photographing sleeping faces) of the Pokémon attracted to the site was completed, it was "snack time.
Snack time" can only be held once a day, immediately after the Pokémon's sleeping faces have been photographed, so the Pokémon are carefully given snacks.
You can give a Pokémon you want to be friends with a "PokéSable" to make it a "Buddy Pokémon.
Since the types of Berries and ingredients collected by Pokémon differ depending on the type of Pokémon, it is more efficient to change the composition of the "tidying team" according to the preferences of the Kabigon you are raising.

In addition, you can use the ingredients collected by your Pokémon to make "dishes" for Kabigon to eat in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Cooking is a chance to greatly increase Kabigon's energy, so don't forget to do it.

Incidentally, the result of the "Sleep Score" competition among the media was that the first place was 4,000,000 points. Although I narrowly missed out on first place, I think I did quite well as a short sleeper.

As a side note, a Tuchinin was hatching in the author's tent. Although I did not win, I was able to get a real Pokémon, so it was enough for me to get a story.

Having participated in the "Pokémon Sleep" media preview, I realized that even I, who am not good at getting a good night's sleep, can enjoy sleeping if I have an opportunity like "Pokémon Sleep" to do so. I will definitely install Pokémon Sleep when it is officially released and aim to complete my "Pokémon Sleeping Faces" book. I hope you will also try "Pokémon Sleep" when it is released!
