When you come to Akihabara, you may have a hard time deciding where to have lunch.

As Akibaites who prefer to spend their money on their hobbies, we would like to focus on restaurants where you can eat for less than 1,000 yen, assuming that the amount of money you can spend for lunch is within 1,000 yen.

Many of you may be thinking, "Akiba is all about ramen! Many people may say, "Akiba is the place for ramen! However, in the ramen shops of Akihabara, you will find only tonkotsu (pork bone) type ramen, with the words "back fat," "Hakata," and "Kyushu" being used to describe the ramen.

While it is true that tonkotsu ramen is delicious, sometimes you just want something different. This time, we visited "Thick Chicken Soba Menya Buichi.

Takeichi is located about a five-minute walk from the Denkigai Exit of JR Akihabara Station, one street back from Akihabara's main street, Chuo-dori, in front of APA Hotel Akihabara Station Denkigai Exit.



The restaurant has a total of 24 seats at the counter and tables, but the aisles are wide enough to create a relaxed atmosphere.



There is no specific lunch menu, and you are expected to order from the regular menu.



If you want to eat not only ramen but also rice, you can add Takeichi's famous "mini-donburi Shitenno" (250 yen), a limited-time "Cha Mayo-don" (250 yen), rice, or other dishes.




I had intended to order the "Thick Chicken Hakuchu Soba" (880 yen), which is also the signature dish, but decided to make the most of my budget of 1,000 yen and opted for the "Thick Chicken Tsukemen" (950 yen).



There are three dipping sauces to choose from: "chicken bone and soy sauce soup," "chicken white soup," and "spicy miso soup," which can be selected for an additional 100 yen.
The "Tsukemen" and "Mazesoba" can be ordered with a medium portion of noodles for free, so of course I ordered a medium portion.



The "thick chicken tsukemen" is made with flat, thickly rubbed noodles so that the thick soup can be absorbed well, and is topped with pickled bamboo shoots and light chicken chashu (pork). The toppings include menma (pickled bamboo shoots) and light chicken chashu pork.



The dipping sauce is very rich in chicken broth, as described on the menu as "collagen-rich chicken shiratsuyu soup. Many people are particular about how they eat tsukemen, such as "dipping just a little bit of the noodles", "dipping half of the noodles", or "dipping all of the noodles", but we encourage you to try "dipping the noodles fully". By dipping the noodles in a generous amount, the thick broth is well mixed with the flat, thickly rubbed noodles, resulting in a delicious taste.



There are six "Thick Chicken Soba Menya Buichi" restaurants in Tokyo, and the "Akihabara Mazesoba" (980 yen), which is available only at the Akihabara branch, is also a must-try.



This time, I visited "Thick Chicken Soba Noodle Shop Takeichi" for a non-pork ramen in Akihabara. The "Thick Chicken Tsukemen" I ordered was very rich and filling, and I was so satisfied that I drank all of the dipping sauce to the last drop. Next time, I would like to try the cold Japanese-style chicken noodle soup.
The fact that Chicken Soba has been in business for nearly 10 years in Akihabara, where many ramen stores are made with pork bones, is proof of its deliciousness. We hope you will try their rich Chicken Soba Noodle!
