So, "Weekend Plastic Model Making by Voice Actor Taiyuki! Let's start the 80th issue!

Yasuyuki's Weekend Plastic Model Show No. 80 MODEROID Evangelion First Model

Evangelion" is a name that few anime fans, let alone anime fans, are familiar with anymore.

Although the curtain finally closed on the story with the release of "Shin Evangelion the Movie" in 2021, the popularity of the series is still immense. However, the story has finally come to an end, and the popularity of the character and Evangelion machines continues to grow.

Among them, we would like to introduce the plastic kit "Evangelion First Plane" released by Good Smile Company's MODEROID.

My overall impression after picking it up and assembling it can be summed up in one word: "handy! How easy is it really? Let's take a look at it.

The package illustration depicts the sides of the machine, so I lined up images of each side. The first plane is holding the spear of Cassius low, backwards and forwards, using a collapsed building as a scaffold. There is a lot of discussion as to why they went to the trouble of holding it back and using it in the opposite direction in the play.

The package design is easy to recognize, even when displayed in stores stacked either horizontally or vertically.

The number of runners is quite small. At this point, I felt that the kit was designed to be as simple and easy to assemble as possible. It helps that the black parts are painted fluorescent green. It is very difficult to paint bright colors over black.

The assembly instructions are of course in full color. Some stickers are included to complement the coloring. The stickers are in the "Oh, this will be saved by stickers" section when you apply them.

The contents are the above. Now, let's start assembling it.
The assembly was streamed LIVE on my YouTube channel, so please refer to it if you like.

It took less than 2 hours to complete. Despite the fact that it took less than two hours to complete, it is still very well finished. The color of the molding is good, and thanks to the pre-painted parts and stickers, the figure in the movie is beautifully reproduced even without painting.

The antenna on the head, eyes, and mouth are pre-painted parts. The collarbone area and the pentagon of the shoulders are reproduced with stickers. The color scheme has been reproduced to this extent thanks to the other parts and pre-painted parts. The antenna is delicate, so please be careful not to bend it.

Also, since this kit is a simple kit, the gimmick of the progressive knife storage on the shoulder is not included.

The fluorescent green parts at the ends of the purple plates on the forearms and the triangles on the knees are stickers. Other parts of the figure have been colored by dividing the parts and using pre-painted parts. The expression on her wrists is also very Eva-like.

Back. The fluorescent green part of the entry plug cover and the hexagon around the shoulder blades are sealed. As with the progressive knife storage on the shoulders, there are no moving gimmicks around the entry plug.

However, the joint hole in the center of the back is located in a position more reminiscent of the attachment of an umbilical cable than for "THE Simple Stand," so perhaps the company is considering commercialization of various optional parts in the future.

The joint holes are also located on the waist, so I have a feeling that the earlier prediction of "umbilical cables" may come true.

Neck range of motion. There are movable parts at the base of the neck and at each of the joints with the head, which can be flexed back and forth, as well as turned to the side.

Movable arms. The base of the shoulders and the body side can swing up and down, and can be lifted more than 90 degrees horizontally. The shoulder joint itself has a ball joint connection, so it is also possible to lift the arm straight up from forward and backward rotation.

Since the shoulder connection is a ball joint, a slight swing back and forth is also possible.

The elbow ends here. If the connection part is pulled out a little, roll rotation is possible with the elbow.

The wrists are connected by a shaft, so they can rotate.

The body is made up of multiple joints, so it can move forward and backward up to this point.

In addition, the body can be tilted horizontally, and each section is ball-jointed, so it can be twisted.

The front and rear leg openings are absurdly flexible.

The left and right legs can be opened to the point where the thigh armor meets the hip parts. Hip joints are axially connected.

The knees are double-jointed. Thanks to the thin design and the calf/thigh design, they can be bent up to 180°.

The ankle connection itself is a ball joint. The shin side of the ankle can be swung back and forth. The color scheme is perfect.

The thighs are connected to the hip joint block by an axis that allows for roll rotation.

As you can see, the range of motion is quite ample for a simple kit.

Let's try posing her in various ways.

Standing pose with the whole body slightly open.

She can also stand on one knee.

She can also be posed in the air using "THE Simple Stand" for a jump kick.

A gun holder holding a palette rifle. The rifle itself looks like this, but it consists of only one part! The muzzle of the rifle has a concave hole in it.

Only the gun handle for the right hand is included. Combined with the flat hand, the figure can be posed as the first plane hiding behind a building or other structure to watch for apostles.

The target is put in the center and switched on"!

Both left and right wrists are included to hold Cassius' spear. The fists have round holes for the shaft of the spear.

In "Shin Evangelion: The Movie", Cassius' spear was intentionally held backwards when he confronted Gendo, but in "Evangelion: The Movie", it is held from the wide side that looks like the "ear" of a spear, and it is also held from the side where it fuses with the Longinus Spear. When it fused with the Lance of Longinus, this is the tip of the spear, so this seems to be the correct position.

The first plane jumps up greatly and tries to swing the spear of Cassius with both arms.

The left hand spear holder also comes with a pattern with a tighter wrist angle. Depending on the combination of the wrists, you will be able to enjoy various postures.

In the movie, a variety of weapons such as the Positron rifle and progressive knife appear, but the more optional parts you add, the higher the price of the kit will go. I felt that the bold and affordable nature of this kit was made in consideration of the fact that some Eva fans would rather have a three-dimensional Evangelion model that is easy to produce than a full lineup of weapons.

On the other hand, I would be happy to see a lineup of optional parts that can be used to recreate various situations in the future, along with the release of other Evangelion series.

Since the Evangelion was so easy to make, I decided to make it easy to make a "plus a little effort" to go along with it.

Plus a little effort!

So this is a smear using only the "PIGMA 0.03mm" pen. It is hard to see the changes even if I took a picture of the whole body, so I started from the leaning of the upper half of the body.

You may want to just fill in the parts like the head and shoulder intakes. The pen I used is water-based, so even if it comes out or you make a mistake, just wipe it off with a tissue and it will be back to normal in no time. It can be redone.

On the other hand, if you want to protect the smear, you need to coat it with clear paint. In this case, it is clear coated with a matte finish.

The dots on the back of the legs were also filled in with a pen. The surface structure of the legs is complex, but there are few details, so smearing is easy.

The soles of the feet are also painted with a pen. It is not difficult to smear the paint on these parts, but it is a good idea to try.

The spear of Cassius was also painted by pen only for the details around the tip and the bumps.

The back of the hand needs to be partially painted to get the color scheme, but by smudging, the bumps and details become clearer, so you don't have to worry so much.

When I was in the mood, I did some poses. The first plane with the spear fully thrust.

It is stable enough to stand on its own even with the spear in the left hand and the rifle in the right.

Combined with "THE Simple Stand," Hatsugouki is running at full speed. Even though the detailed parts such as "only the toes move" have not been reproduced, you can still enjoy the Evangelion-like atmosphere of the pose.

The fact that the kit requires a little ingenuity for those who prefer to paint their Evangelion, is one of the reasons why I felt that this kit was made for "those who want to play with Evangelion easily". So I look forward to the MODEROID series continuing to make it easier to collect other Eva kits.

So, we'll see you next time for service, service, service!
