Collecting both distressed people and Otakara quickly and easily with a dandy play style! Knowledge and techniques useful in the strategy of "Pikmin 4" (Basic version)

On July 21, 2023, the Switch title "Pikmin 4" was released. This title is the latest in the series, the first in about 10 years since the previous title, "Pikmin 3". In order to rescue people who have been lost on a planet, players work together with mysterious creatures called Pikmin and their rescue dog, Ochin, to search various fields.

In this article, we will introduce knowledge and techniques that are useful in "Pikmin 4".

Knowledge and techniques useful in the strategy of "Pikmin 4" (Basic)

1. When sunset is approaching, add Pikmin to the formation or have them wait in the circle of the base!

When dusk is approaching after you start exploring the field, you will be recommended to gather Pikmin in the work. Eventually, a countdown will begin, and you will want to add Pikmin to your ranks before it reaches zero, or have them wait in the circle displayed around your base. If neither of these is met, the individual will die at sunset.

If you are just walking around, it is unlikely that you will let your Pikmin die for those reasons. The problem is when they are carrying otakara, people in distress, or fighting enemies. Comparing the current task with the countdown to sunset, many of us end up pushing ourselves too hard, thinking that we can make it, and in the end, we lose Pikmin and fail to accomplish our original goal. In order to avoid sacrificing the Pikmin as much as possible, stop the work as soon as sunset approaches and prioritize their safety.

2. Be aware of dandle

Pikmin 4" does not have a specific time limit for the number of days, but the time available for activities on a given day is limited. Therefore, if you are always watching over Pikmin carrying distressed people and Otakara, the search will not progress at all. Therefore, we should be aware of "dandori" as mentioned by Captain Shepherd in the film.

If there are 30 Pikmin, while 10 Pikmin are carrying Otakara, the remaining 20 Pikmin will be taken by the player to search for other Otakara, or to explore unexplored areas. If more than two tasks can be performed at once, the efficiency is increased.

If a Pikmin is working on something, it is recommended to always keep this perspective in mind to see if the player can do something else with the remaining Pikmin or rescue dog Otchikara.

3. Learn how to increase Pikmin and pellet specifications

When collecting enemies and pellets to Onyon at the base, the number of Pikmin can be increased. In "Pikmin 4," it is essential to secure the number of Pikmin in order to fight the protozoa with the number of Pikmin you have.

There are a total of nine species of Pikmin in the film, including red, blue, yellow, etc. The number of Pikmin that can be increased depends on the percentage of Pikmin that were carrying the collected items. The same type of Pikmin as the Pikmin with the highest percentage will be replenished, so match the color of the Pikmin you want with the type of Pikmin you want and have them carry the items.

In the case of pellets, by matching the color of the pellet and the Pikmin carrying it, you can increase the number of Pikmin a little more than usual. The number of Pikmin may be as small as one or two, but it is useful when the number of Pikmin you are carrying with you is small.

However, it is important to keep in mind that no matter which Pikmin you increase, you cannot increase them without the corresponding Onyon. With the exception of Hikari Pikmin, the onions for the eight Pikmin species are hidden somewhere, so pay attention to them when exploring the field.

4. Rescue electrocuted or drowned Pikmin with a whistle

When Pikmin of unsuitable species approach electric walls or deep water, they are electrocuted or drown. If left unattended, they will die. Within a certain period of time, they will return to life simply by blowing their whistles and leading you to them.

Unintended situations are especially likely to occur when Pikmin are startled and scatter, such as when a Dememadara roars or a Tamagomushi appears. Do not panic if you see Pikmin dying, and continue to use your whistle until they come back to you.

5. Attack protozoa from the side or from behind

There are various types of protozoa, but those that are much larger than pikmin have a lot of energy and are tough to defeat with a single attack. If you throw Pikmin from the front without thinking, they will be eaten before you can defeat them.

In order to keep Pikmin from dying as much as possible, when attacking protozoa, you should aim at their flanks or rear. If you are not in front, even if the Pikmin are shaken off, you will have a chance to regroup with your whistle and rearrange your formation. If you attack from a direction that will not be attacked, collect the Pikmin that have been shaken off with the whistle, and then attack again from the flanks or rear while keeping your distance and watching the situation ......, you can greatly reduce your own casualties.

When attacking, use the "otchin" as well. When the otchin grows, it can carry the player and Pikmin, and can also "tossin" by holding down the X button. Pikmin will attack at once when they collide with an enemy, so you should be able to cut down their HP in one fell swoop with the Tossin combo.

6. Take Ice Pikmin with you when in trouble

Ice Pikmin have been introduced in this title. They have the one and only characteristic of freezing the target if you keep attacking them. Freezing has a time limit, but it completely blocks the opponent's movement, so if you attack with attacking Pikmin such as Red Pikmin or Purple Pikmin during this time, you can decide the game in no time.

The more Ice Pikmin attacking, the shorter the time it takes for the opponent to freeze. Since it takes a long time with only a few Pikmin, it is recommended to bring at least 10 Pikmin.
