This is the fourth in the MPG series of the Trainbots, one of the most popular characters in the "Transformers" series. Here is the fourth in the series, the Cybertronian wilderness fighter Trainbot Sweiken!

Following the release of the two Trainbot Combined Warrior Raiden robots in charge of the legs, this is the first of the two in charge of the arms. How is it going to turn out?

The package size is the same as the previous Trainbot models. On the back of the package, you will find a description of the "Tokai Type 153 Series Express" train in vehicle mode.

Here are the contents. Instruction manual, character cards, Suiken itself, rails A & B for conventional trains, weapon (Storm Laser), weapon for Raiden (Train Bazooka), and joints. Here are the weapons for Raiden.

First, the vehicle mode. Of course, it can be displayed on the included conventional rail.

Even parts that cannot be seen from the station platform, such as the bogie, are reproduced in detail. The color of the distinctive car body must have been carefully chosen.

The "downward narrowed cross-sectional shape" mentioned in the package description has also been reproduced. The front driver's window has a wiper modeling. The lights are also clear parts. The door of the rear coupling is painted.

The coupler is the same as Trainbot's.

From left and right. There is no compromise on the structures placed on the ceiling. The side windows are all clear parts.

Top and bottom.

Looking at it from directly below, you will finally remember that it is a "Transformer". That is how realistic the reproduction of the vehicle is.

Here is a side-by-side view with the "Diaclone" Train Robo version, which was the base model. The Diaclone version may have had a lot of detail omitted due to its size, but it still captures the characteristics of the base train and is clearly recognizable as a "Tokai Type 1553 Series Express Train". The color choice must have been made with great care at that time.

Left is the MPG version and right is the Diaclone version. They look like a father and son.

Storm Laser weapon is also compared with the one of those days. The grip part is much cooler, and the silhouette and structure are also upgraded from the original one.

The Suiken also came with Raiden's weapon, so I put it side by side with the original one. The grips have been made cooler and the functionality of the original design has been rearranged to make it even clearer.

And now this weapon ......

It has a gimmick to separate into three parts. Here is how it is utilized: ......

As you can see, it can be divided and stored inside the front part! I wondered what would happen when it came with Suiken, but I needn't have worried.

Moreover, it can transform into vehicle mode while stored! Furthermore, the Storm Laser can also be folded and mounted on the underside. The joint for connecting the stand can be connected in the middle of the underside of the vehicle.

As mentioned in the instruction manual, the cars can be connected to each other, which is not possible in the original design. It is possible to recreate the scene in the movie with all six cars connected.

Now that we have seen the gimmick in vehicle form, let's transform it into robot form. However, the transforming procedure of MPG is very detailed, so I will give a rough introduction.

Transformation from train form to robot form!

First, remove the front part.

Deploy the rear part of the vehicle and start transforming the legs.

The stored thighs are deployed, the legs are extended, and the open panels are closed.

Here is the completed deformation of the legs.

Next is the upper body.

Collapse the panels of the vehicle's body and deploy the arms that are packed inside.

Deformation is achieved by making full use of the joints at the base of the shoulders. Fold down the panels.

Deploy the wrists and lower the shoulder joints into position.

Slide the head forward and the chest panel to the left and right to complete the deformation of the body.

The part that was previously removed is also deployed. Remove the cannon that is housed inside.

Bring the driver's part of the vehicle around to the top of the top.

Turn the connection part with the main body toward the front,

Merged with the receiving part of the main body.

Finally, attach the removed cannon to the side of the backpack. ......

Suiken, robot mode is completed. I placed the Diaclone version next to it, and it is indeed the best MPG in the Transformers series!

I really like the balance of a robot like Trainbot, which is thicker below the knees than the thighs.

Even though the transformation mechanism is completely different, the impression from the back is very close to that of the original product.

The tip of the cannon attached to the backpack is an adaptation of the missile gimmick of the Diaclone version.

Incidentally, the missile gimmick was omitted from the G1 Transformer version of Suicen, so the shape of the cannon on this MPG Suicen may actually have been based on the Diaclone version of the toy.

Comparison of the upper body. The blocks on the left and right sides of the head in the anime and old toys have been rearranged into a backpack this time, but the frontal view image has been retained. Other small details have been incorporated in the MPG, even the head portion of the abdominal screws.

The lower body has been similarly incorporated in a greatly upgraded form, including the ceiling structure and toe details when in vehicle mode, which are seen as knees.

Behind the goggles made of clear parts, gentle twin eyes have been sculpted. The human-like mouth is also a masterpiece of the "Transformers" line.
