Satoru Noda, the original author

The live-action project has been in the works for so many years that my memory of it has faded, but thanks to not only the people who helped me with the original story, but also a vast number of people beyond that, I am extremely grateful and happy as the original author that the live-action Golden Kamuy adaptation was made possible.
I have experienced firsthand the love that everyone involved in the live-action project has for Golden Kamui.
The Ainu folk tools and costumes were made by many traditional Ainu craftsmen, and Sugimoto's 30-year rifle is something he would not be ashamed to display anywhere.
And then there is the spectacular cast. I believe that fans of the original work will love the live-action version if they actually see the film.
I hope that many people will enjoy this live-action film, not just as the author of the original work, but as a member of the production team.

<Cast

Kento Yamazaki as Saichi Sugimoto
I felt a lot of pressure because "Golden Kamui" is a very popular original story, but when I heard about it, I was sure that it would be fun.
The fact that I would be able to take on a new challenge with a team that I trust was also a big part of it. In the role of Sugimoto, I wanted to portray a man who overcomes obstacles and regains lost or forgotten senses.
As I got older, I think I was able to show a lot of things that I have never shown before.
When I met the original author, Mr. Noda, he told me that he was on my side, which made me very happy and reassured me.
During the filming, I felt a sense of accomplishment as we carefully created each scene one by one in the great outdoors and on gorgeous sets. I am looking forward to the completion of the film.

Anna Yamada as Asiㇼpa
I am truly honored to be involved in the live-action adaptation of "Golden Kamuy," a manga loved by many people.
At the same time, I felt uneasy about the differences from the original work, such as my age and height, but I was determined to take responsibility for the role entrusted to me.
The more I acted, the more I empathized with Ashiropa's willful attitude and the strength of her feelings, and the more I fell in love with her.
The entire staff and cast discussed and worked together to make the film even better. It was a warm and happy scene, filled with love for the work and the role.
This was the first time for me to work with Ms. Yamazaki, who played Sugimoto, for a long period of time, and I felt right away that I could build a relationship with her as Sugimoto and Ashiropa, as well as a partner, as soon as we started shooting.
I am very much looking forward to the day when we can send the film out to you all, and I thank you in advance for your support!

Go Atsushi Maeda as Hyakunosuke Ogata
I loved Ogata in the original story as well, so I was honored to play the role.
I was honored to play the role because I loved Ogata so much in the original manga.
Your realistic and highly-realistic characters, the locations and sets that appeared in the original story, and filming in the great outdoors, including snow-covered mountains, were all part of the "Golden Kamuy" worldview, and I felt like I was naturally able to live as Ogata.
However, the charm of Ogata Hyakunosuke is not yet like this. I am now hoping for a sequel.
Please look forward to it.

Yuma Yamoto as Yutake Shiraishi
I originally read the original story, and even before I was asked to play the role, I knew I wanted to play Yutake Shiraishi, my favorite character in the live-action version.
On the first day, I liked Shiraishi so much that I put pressure on myself and became very stiff. However, since there is a limit to how he looks, I respected and copied his inner self and tried to mix my own interpretation and originality.
I also worked hard on my body, so I hope you can see the results of my training. I also have a scene where I show off the slimy Shiraishi, so I hope it will be a disgusting scene. I think it's a good performance that fans of "Golden Kamuy" will enjoy.

Asuka Kudo as Motoi Tsukishima
I was originally a fan of the original story and have been reading it since it was serialized, so I was really happy when I was offered the role.
To be honest, I was anxious about whether I would be able to play the role of Tsukishima, and there was a lot of pressure on me, but I decided that I would just have to trust the director and the staff and make it through, so I decided to take part.
Everyone in each department carefully created the world view and visuals of the manga, one by one, in every detail, and I was always amazed at how wonderful they were.
As a fan of the original, I am looking forward to seeing the film, and I am sure that the audience will enjoy it as well!

Shuntaro Yanagi as Kohei Nikaido/Yohei
I was originally a fan of the original work, so when I heard about the opportunity, I was frankly very happy and surprised to be able to participate in the world of "Golden Kamui".
The Nikaido brothers are fascinating characters, so I felt a sense of responsibility to bring out the best in them, and since it was a big production, I was excited to imagine the atmosphere of the filming.
I know that many fans of the original work are looking forward to seeing the Nikaido brothers, so in order to live up to their expectations, I swung into action in the scenes where they show their madness.
Although I had to fight against the cold on location in Hokkaido in the middle of winter, I really felt that we were filming "Golden Kamuy".
I was very happy to be able to spend time on set in the world of "Golden Kamuy.

Katsumi Kiba as Shinpachi Nagakura
It has been 53 years since I became an actor, but this is the first time for me to act in a work based on a manga.
Although we are the same age, I met Mr. Tachi, my co-star, on the set for the first time in 36 years, and I was deeply impressed by how long we have both been working together.
We had a snack bar called "Kamui" more than 40 years ago when I was in my 20s, so I feel a strange connection with him. I met a memorable piece of work.
I know that many fans of the original work will be watching the film, so I wanted to keep it close to the impression they have, but I hope that they will also see it as a new aspect of the character.

Hiroshi Tamaki as Atsushiro Tsurumi
I myself am a fan of "Golden Kamuy," so I knew that it was going to be a tough production. Even with that in mind, I was looking forward to participating in this film.
The role of Lieutenant Tsurumi that I was given this time is a very challenging character, and I am very happy to be able to play it.
I wanted to bring out in my performance the fear and dread I felt when I read the original story, the unpredictability, and the inability to grasp the story in a straightforward manner. I respect the original work, and as a member of the cast, I wanted to make sure that fans of the original work would also be satisfied with my performance. I am looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Hiroshi Tachi as Toshizo Hijikata
I am very happy to be able to participate in the film adaptation of the famous original work.
This film is set in a world where Hijikata was alive, and I have always wanted to play the role of Hijikata Toshizo.
Hijikata, more than anyone else, had a yearning to be a samurai and a desire to be more like a samurai than a warrior. In addition to the original manga, I re-read Hijikata's book and developed my image of him and played his role.
I am sure each of us has our own image of the world when we read the manga, but I am looking forward to the release of this film, knowing that I will be able to show you images that go beyond that. I am looking forward to the release of this film. Please look forward to it.

Producer Shinzo Matsuhashi
I was asked by WOWOW if I could make the best entertainment film that could compete in the world. I was asked by WOWOW if I could make the best entertainment film that could compete in the world, and I proposed this project with strong determination and a huge production cost. However, the rights to the original work were in a fierce competition. The road to acquisition was a long one, and we spent an enormous amount of time and manpower developing the project and conducting research.
Recently, we were finally able to complete the spectacular and intense filming on location, mainly in the extremely cold region of Hokkaido. Thanks to the wonderful cast and crew who came together as like-minded people. I hope that your comments will give you an idea of the enthusiasm and response we received. We are confident that we will be able to deliver a spectacular work that will surely follow in the footsteps of "Kingdom," so please wait patiently for its completion.

Producer Ryo Otaki
I am pleased to announce that I will be the executive producer of the "Golden Kamuy" movie. While I feel the burden of adapting the unique, fascinating, and intensely hot original work spun by Mr. Noda into a live-action film, the wonderful cast, crew, and partner companies that have come together for this project have made every phase of the preparation, shooting, finishing, and promotion an exciting buildup that makes my heart tremble on a daily basis.
In the original comics, there is an Ainu saying, "There is not a single thing that has been sent down from heaven without a purpose. Whenever I read this, I feel a strong urge to fulfill my role in the film.
I am sure that everyone who has faced the live-action adaptation of this original work over a long period of time feels the same way. We will continue to work hard until the completion of the film, aiming for even higher goals so that the love for the work of all those involved in the film will reach the audience. We look forward to your continued support.

Shigeaki Kubo, Director
I have always been a big fan of the original work. However, I never thought that I could express the world of "Golden Kamui" with only that respect and love.
I spent more than a year working with the staff, researching, visiting, and learning how realistically we could convey the world depicted in the original work.
The characters are all fighting to the death to fulfill their roles in the fierce battle for the gold, but their relationships with the Ainu and glimpses of their adorable daily lives and expressions make them more human and lovable, but at the same time, the tension of the battle for the gold increases even further.
Through Asiㇼpa, the film also portrays an unprecedentedly strong image of the Ainu, who have a strong will and have fought to protect their culture and faith. We spent all of our preparation to depict the human characters who are connected to the land and the fierce struggle for tattoos. Filming in many natural settings was also a true battle. I believe that this is depicted in the film as a well-honed image.
I would like you to feel the beginning of the great spectacle of the gold nugget battle that unfolds in the Ainu culture, the Meiji Era, and the great nature on the big screen in the theater!
