A relay interview with the highly anticipated winter anime "Bermuda Triangle"! The third interview is with Hikaru Tono, who plays Serena!
The broadcast of the new anime "Bermuda Triangle ~Colorful Pastorale~," which will color the winter of 2019, is finally approaching on Saturday, January 12.
Bermuda Triangle -Colorful Pastorale-" is a spin-off of the trading card game-themed anime "Card Fight! Vanguard," which has been a series of trading card game-themed anime that has been running since the winter of 2011 through the spring of 2018. It depicts the daily life of the mermaid idol "Bermuda △ (Triangle)," which boasts immense popularity in "Vanguard," until its formation.
The original character design is by Takuya Fujima of "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha ViVid" fame. The collaboration of popular creators such as director Junji Nishimura and series composition by Michiko Yokote is also a delight, but the cast of "Bermuda Triangle" is the most interesting part!
Akiba Research Institute" asked the cast members of "Bermuda△" about the appeal of this work!
Our third interview is with Hikaru Tono, who plays the role of Serena! Like Ms. Bouski, she is a promising newcomer who just made her debut as a voice actress last year, and we asked her to share her enthusiasm for the role!
⇒ A relay interview on the highly anticipated winter anime "Bermuda Triangle"! The first interview is with Amane Shindo, a junior high school student who is making her voice acting debut as Caro!
⇒In the second installment, we'll be talking about the voice actress who plays the role of Fina, Spinning Tree ! In the second installment, we will be talking with Boshiki Risa, who plays the role of Fina!
--What kind of character is Serena? What kind of character is Serena and how do you feel about actually playing her?
Tono: Serena is a slightly cool and knowledgeable girl. She is clumsy, but she is also very determined and tries her best to tackle various things based on the knowledge she has gained from reading books, and I think the mischievous side she sometimes shows is also attractive.
I had never tried to play this type of character before, so I often found it difficult, but gradually I began to understand the lines that were typical of Serena, and I began to think that I, who was facing the script with my head in my hands, was actually overlapping with Serena in some ways. The recording became more and more enjoyable.
--Bermuda △" was originally an idol unit popular in the "Cardfight! Vanguard", were you aware of their existence? Also, what did you think when you first heard about the "Mermaid Idol" setting?
Tono: I knew they existed. When I visited the card store at an event long before I heard about the audition, I was impressed by the customers who were happily opening Bermuda△ packs, so I was very happy to be involved in a work that is loved by so many people.
I was instantly attracted to the exciting word "Mermaid Idol," which is filled with the yearning and "cuteness" of girls! I also love the fantastical world of the sea.
--Please tell us about the charms and highlights of this work.
Tono: I think it is the growth of the five girls. The story begins when Kanon, a girl who grew up in the city, comes to the countryside to live in Parrelle, and the five girls, all with different personalities, play around and challenge various things, sometimes confronting trials that start with new encounters, and overcoming many things to strengthen their bond.
The five cast members who are playing the roles also struggle in the recording, and little by little, teamwork is emerging. I think you can see their realistic growth, so I hope you enjoy it as well. And Poco is cute. !!!!
--What scenes in the film, as far as you can tell, were the most memorable for you? Also, what do you think are the highlights of the anime?
Tono: I would like people to pay attention to the relationship between the shell sisters (shell sisters). Fina and Serena, who were born from the same shells, have seemingly different personalities, but they love and respect each other very much. There are scenes in the film that show the relationship between the two, but I was particularly impressed by the scene where Serena and Fina overcome the difficulties together when things go wrong and things go sideways.
--How do you feel about the atmosphere at the recording studio? Were there any memorable episodes during recording?
Tono: It was very warm and lively. I often think that the five main cast members are just like their characters in what they say and do (laugh). In the production, there are many scenes where they are eating, and even on the set, they were eating snacks we received as gifts, and sometimes fighting over them in a friendly atmosphere (laugh). When the sound director, Mr. Yokota, actually made the "hijiki sandwiches" that appear in the film and brought them to the studio, there was a big fuss, and I was reminded how lucky I am to have such loving support from the staff.
--I was reminded of how lucky I am to have such a loving and supportive staff. Did you have any interactions or learn anything from the senior cast members?
Tono: The senior cast members were very kind to me, and I was always on the verge of tears with their warm words. They gave me advice when I got stuck, and answered my questions carefully. ...... And when he gave us sweets, we all jumped on them (laughs). On the other hand, when the performance started, I was surprised and attracted by the play many times. I learned a lot from them.
In particular, Mr. Hidaka and Mr. Inoue warmly looked after the new cast members just as they did the characters in the production, and they helped me a lot. I was very happy to be able to work with such wonderful senior cast members, and I was always desperate to learn and absorb every little thing they taught me.
--You sang the ending theme song "Shabon. What was it like to sing it?
Tono: It has a gentle, catchy melody that makes you want to sing along, and I think it is a perfect song for the ending of Karapare.
It was fun to think about how Serena would sing it, but it was also difficult when I actually tried it, but I enjoyed recording it while discussing it with the staff. I had a lot of fun thinking about how the song would be sung, but it was also difficult when I actually tried it!
--Lastly, do you have any comments for our readers?
Tono: I think this is a warm work filled with a lot of feelings that will make you feel relieved after watching it. I would be happy if you, the fans of "Bermuda△" as well as those who are new to the world of the Mermaids, could watch the growth of the girls together.
I hope you will enjoy this carapale full of first-time sparkles!
--Thank you very much!
