TGS Trial Play Report: "Momotaro Dentetsu World" Play Report! Let's become more knowledgeable about geography while earning assets from all over the world! TGS2023 Special Edition

Tokyo Game Show 2023 is being held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, from September 21 to 24, 2023.

Although the show had been scaled down since 2019 due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus, this year, for the first time in four years, the entire show floor is being used, with all halls from 1 to 11, the Event Hall and the International Conference Hall, and all of Makuhari Messe being colored in game colors.

In this article, we will report on a play report of "Momotaro Dentetsu World: Chikyu wa HOPE de Mawarueteru," which we were able to try out at the Konami booth! ~which we were able to try out at the Konami booth.

Roll the dice and travel the world, aiming to become the number one in total assets!

This title is a sequel to the hit Nindendo Switch game "Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa Heisei, 2025, Wa Mo Standard! and the latest in the "Momotaro Dentetsu" series. The game takes place in a field of unprecedented scale that transcends national borders, and players aim to increase their total assets and become number one by acquiring properties as they move through the squares.

In this test play, I was able to enjoy the basic aspects of this series, from determining the goal point to rolling dice to advance through various locations. The author set his sights on Bangkok, Thailand, passing through Asian cities along the way and acquiring stores in various locations to increase his total assets.

Like a game of "Sugoroku," you can increase your assets by advancing your frame and acquiring properties wherever you go, but the interesting thing about the "Momotaro Dentetsu" series is that it's not that easy. At the playground, I was able to enjoy playing against the CPU, and they were ahead of me at one point, buying up properties where I was going.

Of course, cards with various effects, a staple of the series, must not be forgotten.

Typical of these are the move cards. Cards like the "twin propeller card," which lets you roll three dice at once, allow you to reach your destination in one go, while others allow you to adjust the number of squares you advance through. You can use them to catch up with your opponents, or use them as a decisive factor to stop exactly at the destination. ...... While playing against the CPU is fine, the cards will again play an important role in the psychological warfare against friends and family members.

The game progressed smoothly, and I was the first to reach Bangkok, earning about 1.2 billion yen in extra income. After that, the game ended when the "God of Poverty," who had a lot of money to spend and bought all the properties in the area and also did evil things to his possessed opponents such as reducing their assets, was forced to take second place. He ended up in first place, albeit by a narrow margin of about 200 million yen.

Incidentally, the first-place finishers at this year's event were able to play roulette using tickets distributed to them in advance. The prizes were all too gorgeous to be given away at the playground, including a pair of tickets to the Spa Resort Hawaiians and Tokyo Deutsche Mura! By the way, the one I got was a free ticket that could be exchanged for a drink at a participating convenience store.

As the game is offered as an educational tool for schools, "Momotaro Dentetsu" is a perfect game for learning geography, allowing students to learn the names of cities and local specialties while enjoying the game.

This time, the game is set in the world, and the author was able to learn that Thailand, the destination of the game, is famous for its Tom Yum Kung soup. This is a game that should be played not only by those who want to have fun at a party, but also by those who want to learn about the geography and culture of various regions of the world.
