A FPS based on the classic Western movie "Robocop" and a survival game with zombies! Experience 2 new titles for PS5 from 3goo! Latest Game Trial Play Report

3goo, which releases a variety of games from Japan and abroad, held a playtest of two new games for PS5, "RoboCop: Rogue City" and "Welcome to ParadiZe".

Here is a report on the test play.

Peter Weller himself voices the characters! RoboCop: Rogue City" is the same as the overseas version with the same brutal expressions.

The first game we tried was "RoboCop: Rogue City. As the title suggests, the game is based on the movie "RoboCop" and takes place between "RoboCop 2" and "RoboCop 3" in chronological order. Robocop, a former Detroit police officer, investigates a series of murders in the city and eventually discovers the existence of Afterlife, a project involving Omni and the mafia.

The game is basically divided into an investigation part and a battle part. In the investigation part, the player first walks around the crime scene to gather the necessary evidence and testimony to investigate the case. The game not only provides information on the case, but also expresses the process of issuing a search warrant based on the testimony obtained and searching the crime scene through due process, emphasizing that Robocop is not a hero who appears out of nowhere, but rather a police officer who is a part of the city. It is a minor detail, but it was also impressive that Robocop's movements were strangely angular when he was moving around the scene during the investigation, as if he was faithfully expressing the mechanical movements of the original film.

The combat portion of the game uses a first-person shooter, or FPS, allowing the player to enjoy the game from Robocop's perspective. Although we only had a short amount of time to test the game, during the combat part after the investigation, we kicked the crap out of criminals who were closing in on us, shooting Robocop's favorite gun, the Auto 9, as well as submachine guns and grenade launchers that we picked up along the way. He could also throw nearby enemies and objects at them.

In battle, Robocop basically overwhelms the enemy, but his stamina tends to decrease when he stands on a stick against multiple opponents or stands around without considering the enemy's line of fire. However, as long as you use recovery items properly, it did not seem to be too much of a struggle.

In addition, it seems that it is possible to hack and manipulate certain machines in the stage and use them as weapons to attack enemies. It seems that learning specific skills increases the number of actions that can be taken, and there are many RPG-like elements to the game. There are various types of skills, such as physical strength, defense, reasoning, and analysis, that are useful in battle scenes, as well as those that make the investigation more advantageous. According to the developer, this title seems to adopt a multiple ending, so the ending of the story may change depending on the choices and means released by the skills.

While walking around town, you may encounter side quests. How to solve the requests of the residents depends on the player's control.

Another feature of the game is that there are no restrictions on the use of language, and although the CERO rating is "Z," which indicates that the game is intended for players 18 and older, the game's depiction is exactly the same as in the international version. Shooting a target's limbs with Auto 9 will cause arms and legs to fall off, and shooting a target in the head will, of course, cause it to blow up. The play style of the game, which is designed to overwhelm the enemy, is also quite exhilarating.

In addition, the voice of RoboCop in this film is Peter Weller, who played RoboCop in the "1" (1987) and "2" (1990) films. The casting is a must for those who saw the movie at the time, as they will be able to control RoboCop as played by Peter Weller. In addition to the violent depiction of RoboCop, which is a characteristic of RoboCop, the use of Peter Weller, who played the role of RoboCop himself, was an example of the developer's love for the RoboCop series.

Welcome to ParadiZe": Survive with Zombies

The next game we tried was "Welcome to ParadiZe. This is the latest title from EKO Studios, the developers of "How to Survive: Zombie Island" and "How to Survive: Zombie Island 2. Set in a zombie-infested world, players will follow zombies as "zombots" on a quest to find a way to survive.

In battle, players can use action and shooting to defeat enemies and freely use melee and ranged weapons acquired along the way. Although the enemies may have simply been weak in this test play, it is exhilarating to swing the bat and see zombies fall one after another, and since there is no need to devise a particular strategy, the impression is that even intuitive play can be enjoyable.

The biggest feature of this title is the Zombot, which are zombies that become the player's allies. When a player puts a "hacking helmet" on a defeated zombie, it turns into a Zombot, which then follows the player around.

Zombot can be given detailed instructions. Based on the two situations of being out of combat and being in combat, the Zombot can be set to run away or be a decoy. Depending on the settings, the player can have the Zombot carry out a variety of operations, such as fighting with the player or searching for items. There are several bases for exploration in the game, and they can be built, but it seems that the use and patrol of these facilities can also be left to the Zombot.

Each zombot can be equipped with its own equipment, so that each base can have its own neighborhood watch-like unit. The author felt that this element around the Zombot is the most challenging point of the game, as the range of instructions is extremely wide.

It seems that the zombots can be strengthened by learning skills.

Basically, the player has the advantage in this game, and the exhilaration of kicking enemies around and making it easy for the player to use the zombots to their advantage are all enjoyable elements of this game. In this sense, the game is like a party game, so it may be more fun to play with two or more players than alone. This game can be played offline by two people, and online by up to four people, so it will be interesting to see how many people will join in the fun when the full version is released.
