KAIYODO "ARTPLA SCULPTURE WORKS Evangelion Unit 2: The Beast in its 2nd Beastification Form "Geofront Blood Battle"" - easy assembly and special paint job!

The9thissue of "YU-GO'sCharacter ModelingLABO"features Kaiyodo's "ARTPLA SCULPTURE WORKS EvangelionUnit2: The Beast(Geofront Blood Battle)"!

Based on the motif of the beast mode that appeared in the movie "Evangelion: The Second Rebuild of Evangelion", Kaiyodo, a long-established figure maker, has released this plastic kit as the "Supreme Beast Mode", and it is full of dynamism, and the detailed sculpting is very attractive.

Let's start with the box art.

The box art gives a sense of the roughness and evil of the beast mode.

The kit contents look like this. The kit is packed with parts of detailed sculptures.

The parts are so detailed that it looks as if a garage kit (resin cast kit) has been converted directly into a plastic model, and the amount of information contained in each of the parts is overwhelming.

Clear parts are also provided, so it can be decorated with electric lights.

■Anyway, let's try to assemble it straight!

Let's assemble it straight away!

The parts fit together perfectly, so if you take your time to assemble it as if you were making a 3D puzzle, you can complete it in a few hours.

The figure has a wonderful three-dimensional appeal.
The quality is enjoyable even in this state, but this time, I would like to proceed with the theme of "enjoying painting".

One-point lecture on assembly

Basically, glue with "Mr. Cement SP" of Kreos and assemble with "Kami Yasu" (No. 400, No. 600) of God Hand.
Wave's "Instant Epoxy Adhesive" should be used for the parts that require strength, such as the hip joints and the base of the shoulders.
The material of the kit itself is a little soft, so you will need some tricks to process it, but proceed as if it were a resin cast kit that can be made with plastic modeling adhesives.

The thigh parts have noticeable joints, so it is tempting to just glue them on and file them off, but here we are going to create a seam (so-called "step-down molding"). However, let's make a seam (a step, so-called "stepped molding process") to increase the amount of information in a handy way.

Place the blade of a design knife on the adhesive surface of the thigh part and shave off the surface as if you were sanding.

After processing, simply adhere the parts as they are.

Completion.

■Painting recipe and special points!

The basic color is Monza Red by Kreos, and just a fine spray of Gaianotes Clear Brown on the wrinkles and other concave mold areas will improve the atmosphere.

Basically, the first half of the painting is done by airbrushing in shadows, and the second half is done by applying Mr. Weathering Color by Kreos.

For red and orange areas, use "Last Orange" and "Stain Brown". For example, use "Multi Black" for areas where you want the mold to look clear.

To paint the protruding parts of Beast Mode's back, first paint the base black, then spray SHOW UP's "Base Color Cosmic Silver" over it, paint "Divacandy Veronica Blue", and paint the tip with Gaianotes' "Primary Metallic Red". The color was then painted with "Primary Metallic Red" by Gaianotes.
The color turned out to be more ideal than expected, and I recommend it.

The base part is made of "Iron" by Kreos, and can be polished with a cotton swab to express the difference in texture.

I painted the apostle, which is also the base, with the image of a "monster". Therefore, the base color of the body is painted with "German Gray" which is often used when painting Godzilla. The core part is sprayed with "Base Color Cosmic Silver" and then "Diva Candy Torch Red" is overlaid.

The internal parts are finished with a light spray of "Blood Red" while shading with "Red" or "Black" from Kreos. Claws (?) The claws are airbrushed with a special color mixing paint, a kind of secret sauce often used for Godzilla and monster claws.

The face was painted with "GX Cool White", then washed with Mr. Weathered Color "Layer Violet" and finished with "Multi Black" for the damaged parts. The key point when painting is that as you paint, you will gradually "see" the color you have in mind, so it is a good idea to enjoy the color changes as you go along with your sensibilities.

How was it? This ARTPLA kit is a wonderful plastic model that allows you to enjoy painting colors to your heart's content after assembling the parts and dividing them. I'm sure there are many different images of Eva Unit 2 out there, so I think it will be fun to recreate your own Eva Unit 2 using your favorite paints and materials.

See you in the next example!

Next time, service, service!
