Plastic Model Review] Successive "Time Bokan" Mecha Combine! SMP "Tatsunoko Gosei Time Bokan Robo", a challenge by voice actor Yasuyuki Tai! Part 1
When you are a working adult, you tend to have a lot of plastic models piled up in your busy life. ...... In this series, Yasuyuki Tai, a voice actor who loves robots and plastic models, takes on the challenge of building plastic models on your behalf!
The concept is "even busy working people can make it this far on their weekends off. There are only two rules: bare bones assembly and a production period of one to two days! If you read this series, you will surely find the plastic model you want to build.
So, "Weekend Plastic Model Making by Voice Actor Taiyuki! Let's get started with the 83rd issue!
Taiyuki's Weekend Plastic Model Vol. 83 SMP Tatsunoko Production 60th Anniversary Tatsunoko Combined Time Bokan Robo (Part 1)
Tatsunoko Productions is a long-established animation production company whose name is familiar to all anime lovers!
This time, we will introduce a surprise robot to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Tatsunoko Productions! Mecha from Tatsunoko Production's popular "Time Bokan Series" anime have come together under an original storyline to form the "Tatsunoko Gattai Time Bokan Robo"!
Here is the front of the package. The "Time Bokan Robo" logo has also been designed to look like it did back in the day.
The package also includes an introduction of each robot and its contents.
Here you can see an image of the combined robot and the original story. A video of the merging scene supervised by director Masami Ohari can be seen on Bandai's official YouTube channel.
Not only the main character's mecha, but even the Time Guy Cots combine! After merging, the robot can be transformed into not only a robot form, but also a base form!
The number of runners is quite large, as you will be assembling a large number of mecha, but some pre-painted parts are also provided.
In addition, marks and some color coding are reproduced with foil stickers. There are also selectable stickers.
First, let us introduce the mecha selected from each work.
Time Mecha Buton
From the first work in the series, "Time Bokan", the Time Mecha Buton cannot be left out.
Although the style has been slightly rearranged to accommodate the merging mechanism, at a quick glance, it definitely looks like a Mecha-Buton. Thanks to the painted parts and stickers, the colors are perfectly separated.
The "T" pattern on the left and right sides of the body is selectable with the "Tatsunoko Production 60th" mark. In this case, separate stickers are attached to the left and right sides of the body.
The back cover can be deployed to recreate the flying form. There is a figure of Tentouki!
The Tentouki can also be separated! It plays an important role when combined.
The tip of the mechabuton's horns are connected to the shaft, so they can be rotated. I remember that the horns were used to dig holes in the ground in the movie.
The shape of the bottom of the vehicle body is also reproduced to some extent. The original weapon, the saber blade, can be mounted here.
The wheels can also be rolled around, so you can enjoy it as a miniature Mecha-Button toy.
Yatter One
Yatter One from "Yatterman". I think the reproducibility of the shape is very high. The color scheme has been reproduced so far by dividing parts and using stickers.
The bone-like parts on the back are the elements of the mechanism?
The legs can swing back and forth. Shoulders can also be rotated at the connection.
The arms can roll and rotate. The mouth can be opened and closed, and the lever and siren on the toe can be folded down.
The mouth can be opened and tilted forward, and the ladder inside the mouth can be replaced to recreate the "Surprise Surprise Mecha" launching state.
Rollers are attached to the soles of the feet, allowing the figure to roll along.
ZENDA LION
Zenda Lion from "Zenda Man". The number on the chest is "4 x 4 (lion) = 16".
Here, too, the color scheme is reproduced almost perfectly by parts division and stickers. It can be satisfied as a small figure of Zendalion.
The head can be swiveled left and right, and the mouth can be opened and closed. Shoulders and elbows are movable by connecting axes. Of course, it can be rolled and driven.
Sunday
From "Time Patrol Otasukeman" comes the Sunday. It will be the largest mecha in this collection. The style has been slightly rearranged, but the main wings and nose extending from the characteristic square body and the thrusters in the rear are reproduced exactly as they were in the movie. The silver head part is made of a separate part.
The stickers on the side of the main wings are selectable from two types: "Time Patrol" and "Otasukeman".
Although the transformation of the Sunday has not been reproduced, the movable parts of the main wings can be boldly moved.
The cargo under the nose can be opened and closed. The beak part also has a nice sharpness.
Great Heavenly Horse
From "Yattodetaman" comes the Giant Heavenly Horse. Since the Giant God transforms into a robot by itself, it is thought that this one was chosen. Although the style has been somewhat rearranged, the color scheme is well reproduced.
It also benefits from a transformation gimmick that allows it to lift its head up, flap its wings upward, and lower its wings.
The wings can be lowered, and the front and rear legs are movable except for the toes. The kit is finished enough to be enjoyed as a stand-alone kit of the Great Heavenly Horse.
And this time, the Great Heavenly Horse comes with an original weapon, the arrow part, which is available at .......
The arrow can be placed in its mouth.
■Relief Don
Relief Don" from "Reversal Yippatu-Man". The reason why it is not the Reversing King is probably because, like the Giant God, it can transform into a robot form on its own.
In this case, he does not transform into a Tokyu-Usaurus form, so he could be combined into a Time Bokan Robo.
The mouth part can be opened and closed.
The neck and tail can be moved up and down, thanks in part to the transforming gimmick. The large wheels can of course be rolled around. Be careful not to break the antenna on the head when handling it.
Kabutozemi
From the "Itadakiman" series comes Kabutozemi, which once again incorporates a beetle motif. In the anime, it was a flying mecha that transformed into beetle and cicada shapes. There were also two other mecha, Wangaroo and Perigin. Both of these are really excellent names, and you can tell what each of the two motifs are just by hearing the names. The main wing stickers are also available in black color with detail lines.
As a stand-alone gimmick, the model can be reconfigured into a semi-form. The nose can be deformed and detached, the windshield can be folded down, the vertical tail fin can be put up, and the other parts can be reassembled to transform into a semi-form.
Although the parts can be reassembled, the layout of the parts is almost the same as the toys of the time.
I had only the Kabutozemi from that time, so I put them together. You can see that the shape is well reproduced despite its small size.
Time Guycots
The last mecha is Time Guycotts. Despite its mini size, thanks to the stickers and painted parts, the reproducibility is also quite high. There is no particular gimmick to the mecha by itself.
The mecha and left and right wrist parts are assembled together. It's quite a sight to see them all lined up in a row. Each mecha is well made even as a small kit, but the fact that they are combined makes my heart flutter.
Tatsunoko Combined!
In the second part of the review, we will show you how they combine! Enjoy!
