Sony Interactive Entertainment announced today on the PlayStation Blog the new PlayStation 5 (PS5) models, which will be available at PlayStation retailers in Japan on Friday, November 10. The price will be 66,980 yen (including tax) for PS5 (Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive version) and 59,980 yen (including tax) for PS5 Digital Edition.

The new models will maintain the same technology and features that make the PS5 gaming experience possible, but will be smaller in size. In addition, the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive is now removable, and the unit's built-in SSD storage has been increased to 1TB.

Compared to its predecessor, the newly designed PS5 is more than 30% smaller in size and 18% lighter in weight for the disc drive-equipped model and 24% lighter for the digital edition.

The cover of the main unit is divided into four parts, with the upper part having a glossy texture and the lower part having a matte finish as before. If you purchase the new PS5 Digital Edition model, you can also purchase an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive (sold separately) and install it in the PS5 unit.

The new PS5 model will be available at PlayStation retailers in Japan on Friday, November 10. The new PS5 model includes a foot for horizontal placement of the console. An optional vertical stand will be available for a suggested retail price of 3,980 yen (including tax).

A matte black cover will be available in early 2024 for a suggested retail price of 7,480 yen (including tax), and the "Deep Earth Collection" will be available in Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver for a suggested retail price of 7,980 yen (including tax).
