In preparation for the upcoming launch of the Access Controller for PlayStation5 on December 6 (Friday), SIE today unveiled a detailed look at the development process of the Access Controller, as well as the product packaging, which was designed to be easy to open.

In the video released, PlayStation hardware designers, UI designers, and user researchers talk about their collaboration with accessibility organizations. It gives a behind-the-scenes look at the development of the highly customizable PS5 Controller Kit, which helps users with disabilities play games more comfortably and for longer periods of time.

Development of the Access controller began five years ago, and the design evolved through several design concepts and prototypes, in dialogue with accessibility experts and community playtesters, to create an innovative design that would meet the needs of a wide range of users The goal was to create a product that would meet the needs of a wide range of users.

The Access controller box is equipped with a loop-shaped handle on the outside of the box that can be pulled from either side of the box so that it can be opened with one hand. The inside of the box is also equipped with multiple loop-shaped handles, making it easy to remove the controller. The interior of the box is divided into multiple slots, allowing the various parts, including 19 button caps and 3 stick caps, to be identified and kept organized in one layer for easy removal.

Logitech G Adaptive Gaming Kit for Access Controller

The Access controller can be used without the need to connect additional devices, but it is also designed to meet the diverse needs of the accessibility community.

In this issue, Logitech introduces the "Logitech G Adaptive Gaming Kit" (*1) for Access controllers as an official accessory kit developed by Logitech in cooperation with SEA and the accessibility community.

This product is a set of high-performance, durable buttons and triggers that can be connected to Access controllers to enable the assignment and labeling of various controls. The kit will be available worldwide in January 2024 through LogitechG.com and select retailers for $79.99/79.99 EUR/69.99 GBP. Release information, including retail price in Japan, is currently undecided. Logitech will provide information after the release is confirmed.

The kit includes the following
