Winter anime "Urusei Yatsura" 2nd season adds M・A・O, Toshiharu Sakurai, and Kotono Mitsuishi to the cast!

Additional cast information and a special PV from the second season of the winter anime "Urusei Yatsura" have been released.

Rumiko Takahashi's debut work "Urusei Yatsura" begins with the encounter between Ataru Moroboshi, the "most dangerous" high school student on earth, and Rum, a beautiful "devil girl" from outer space. Fearless, full of energy in love, yet somewhat sad... Ataru and Ram's boy-meets-girl love story is colored by a cast of characters from all over the galaxy.
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Shogakukan, the selected episodes of the original story will be adapted into a completely new TV anime series to be broadcast over a four-cour period on Fuji Television's "Noitamina" and other channels, with the first season airing in October 2022.

As additional cast and information from the second season of "Urusei Yatsura," it was announced that M.A.O. will play the role of Asuka Shoji, Toshiharu Sakurai will play the role of Father Mizuno Shoji, and Kotono Mitsuishi will play the role of Mother Mizuno Shoji, and cast comments have also been released.

In addition, a special PV uniquely titled "Urusei Yatsura SPECIAL PV ~Moroboshi Ataru's Loved Women + Others~" also arrived. The PV is an introduction of "Urusei Yatsura" from the viewpoint of Ataru, by Ataru, played by Hiroshi Kamiya, who carefully introduces the women and randomly introduces the "other" men.

Asuka Mizunokouji (cv: M・A・O)

Asuka Mizunokouji (cv: M.A.O.) is Asuma's younger sister, who had no contact with any men, including her father and older brother, until she was 15 years old and lived wearing armor. She is a strong and athletic person with monstrous strength.

Q1. What is "Urusei Yatsura" for you?
I don't know when I first met "Urusei Yatsura," but it was so natural and familiar to me that I found myself enjoying the work.
The visuals of the characters in the anime, as well as the cute music and sound effects, made my heart flutter.
I remember that I admired Ram-chan and all the other girls in the series because they were so unique.

Q2: What attracts you to Asuka, and what do you value and look forward to about playing this role?
I found Asuka attractive because of the gap between being a pretty maiden and having amazing physical abilities.
I think her distinctive eyes, hair style, and blank expression are really cute.
She is the ultimate daughter in a box and cannot be measured by common sense, but she is a pure and innocent girl with no hidden motives, so I tried to make sure that the words I uttered sounded true and sincere in my performance.
Her gestures and onomatopoeia in armor are also very cute, so I am looking forward to seeing how they will be expressed in this anime!

Father Mizunokoji (cv: Toshiharu Sakurai)

Father of Asuka and Asuma, son-in-law of the Mizunokoji family. According to the Mizunokoji family tradition, he meets his daughter Asuka for the first time at an arranged marriage with Mendo. He has a face like a rakugaki.

Q1: What does "Urusei Yatsura" mean to you?
I think I was in junior high school when I read the original work.
I fell in love with it after reading it in Shonen Sunday.
I was in high school when I watched the anime, but I enjoyed it a lot.

Q2: What attracts you to Father Mizunokouji, and what do you value and look forward to about playing this role?
I tried to play a cool father with a henohenmoheji face, but I tried not to show my personality too much.
I wanted to be an airy presence.

Mizunokouji's mother (cv: Kotono Mitsuishi)

Mother of Asuka and Asuma. She has the same eyes as Asuka and Asimaro. Like Asuka, she never had any contact with men until she was 15 years old, so she overcame her phobia of men through hard work.
She is unable to tell the difference between a manly man and a rakugo.

What does "Urusei Yatsura" mean to you?
It is a pioneer work in the field of gag anime.
I was astonished when I watched it on TV because of the discrepancies between the boys' and girls' views on love and the dialogue that did not hide their true feelings (laugh).
And the high tension, speed, and sex make it an anime that you can't take your eyes off.

Q2: What attracts you to Mother Mizunokoji, and what do you value and look forward to about playing this role?
She is the wife of a good family, but as you can see, her facial expression rarely changes.
I went around and around trying to figure out how to express the fun and discomfort of this in my performance, but in the end I just went out there and played it by ear in the studio (laughs).
