Authentic Lanzhou Beef Noodles in Akihabara! Lanzhou Ramen Gofuku Akihabara Branch" Gofuku Lanzhou Beef Noodle Large portion for 850 yen!

When you come to Akihabara, you may have a hard time deciding where to have lunch.

To help you decide, here are some Akiba eats that I, Shun Gori, who is always roaming around Akihabara even when I don't have any plans to visit, recommend.

As an Akibaite who likes to spend his money on his hobbies, I will mainly introduce dishes that can be eaten for less than 1,000 yen, assuming that the amount of money you can spend for lunch is within 1,000 yen.

Akiba is one of the most fierce ramen battlegrounds in Japan. Recently, "tonkotsu (pork bone)" and "back fat" have become popular, and there are lines of people waiting in line at all such restaurants. However, I would like to try the real taste of ramen once in a while.

Let us introduce you to a restaurant where you can taste authentic Chinese ramen noodles, "Lanzhou Ramen Gofuku Akihabara Branch.

Lanzhou Ramen Gofuku Akihabara opened in May 2023, and is located on the first basement floor of a building about a two-minute walk from the Showa-dori exit of JR Akihabara Station, on the corner of Showa-dori Street toward Izumibashi.

Incidentally, on the second floor of the same building is "Delicious Meat Restaurant Yamano," which we have previously introduced.

There is no signboard down the stairs, but there is only "Lanzhou Ramen Gofuku Akihabara Branch" in the basement, so please feel free to enter the restaurant.

The interior is a bit cramped, with four seats at the counter and five tables for two, for a total of 14 seats. The interior is simple, with an apron hanging on the wall to prevent splashing. If you are concerned about splashing, please use the apron. The seats on the wall can be used to store luggage.

When you take a seat, you are given a receipt with a QR sign on it instead of a menu, which you read with your smartphone or other device to place your order.

There is no specific lunch menu, but there is a menu with a sign that says "Manager's Best" on it. The price is different from the price on the sign outside the restaurant.

Either way, it does not seem to exceed my budget of 1,000 yen, so I order the "Gofuku Lanzhou Beef Noodle" for 800 yen.

Once you select your menu, you will be able to choose your options. You can choose whether or not to add Chinese cabbage (pak choi), hot sauce (raayu), and the thickness of the noodles.

Since I do not like Chinese cabbage (pak choi) and I like spicy food, I chose "without pak choi," "with hot sauce," a large bowl of noodles, and thick noodles.

A large serving of noodles is an extra 50 yen, so the price this time is 850 yen.

Toppings such as "extra beef" and "half-boiled brown egg" can be added, as well as side dishes such as "fried chicken" and "fried gyoza".

The soup is made with a hundred-year tradition of using no chemical seasonings, and is very clear. The toppings include five pieces of beef chashu pork, daikon radish and asparagus, which are not often used in Japanese ramen, and optional raayu (Chinese chili oil).

The beef chashu pork is a little dry because it has been braised and the fat has completely rendered off, but it is delicious because it is soaked in the flavor of the broth!

The daikon radish is not seasoned in any particular way, but it is light and refreshing, and is probably best eaten as a chopstick rest.

I chose thick noodles, and it was the right choice.
The thick noodles are well mixed with the rich soup and are very tasty!
The raayu (Chinese chili oil) is optional, but it seems to be better to dissolve it in the soup after tasting a few bites of the noodle without raayu.

As the poster outside the restaurant says, this is the only way to complete the 100-year-old traditional beef medicinal soup.

The soup is so flavorful that it could be served as a meal with white rice alone.

In fact, I lived in China for one year and Taiwan for three years in the past and ate beef noodle every day.

This time, I would like to introduce Lanzhou Ramen Gofuku Akihabara Branch, a restaurant where you can taste authentic Chinese ramen.

The clear soup may seem tasteless at first glance, but the dozens of seasonings used make it a very tasty soup with richness and depth, which becomes even more delicious when combined with the noodles and raayu!
