Takumi Miyasaka (CV: Souma Saito)

He is a live-in cook at Asutoroso. His room is No. 5 on the second floor. He used to work at a restaurant in a major hotel and once won a contest for newcomers.
He finds it rewarding to make people happy with his cooking, even if it is only for breakfast, and he hopes to fall in love with his landlord, Mira Gotokuji, if possible.

Souma Saito's comment
My name is Soma Saito, and I will be voicing Takumi Miyasaka.
I am very happy to be involved as a cast member in this somewhat nostalgic, yet new and outlandish romantic comedy production.
It was a great asset for me to be able to work together with the wonderful production team and to be able to record with eminent people. I can't give you any more details yet, but there is a lot of content, and I hope that many people will watch it.
The characters are so fascinating that I can't talk about just one of them (laughs). If I had to say so, I would say that ...... Naosuke is cute! But they all have their own cute sides and are really nice.
Please enjoy the story woven by the people of Astro Manor! Thank you very much!

Mira Gotokuji (CV: Marei Uchida)

The owner and landlord of Asutoroso, a share house with breakfast. She lives in room 9, which is slightly larger than the other residents.
Her cooking skills are not very good, so she has decided to hire a chef in response to the residents' requests.
In fact, he lacks common sense and does not own a smartphone. His true identity is that of the heir to the throne of the planet Mibo.

Comment by Marei Uchida
My name is Marei Uchida, and I will be playing the role of Mira in the TV anime "Astronaut.
The characters of Astronaut are all very lovable. The residents who gather here have their own problems, but when they get together and eat a delicious meal, they can smile. It was a work that made me feel happy.
I am sure this work will make you laugh a lot, so please look forward to it!

General Director / Shinji Takamatsu Comment
This "Astronaut" is a miraculous work that was revived by chance from a project that had been dormant at the time, but never went into production. This work is filled with my love for the anime I watched in my youth, when "TV anime" was still just "TV anime".
I hope that the young people of those days, and of course the young people of today, can feel the excitement, the thrill, and the sweet and sour feelings that I felt back then.

■Director/Haruki Kasugamori comment
This time, under the supervision of General Director Takamatsu, I made an effort in the position of director.
What Mr. Takamatsu consistently emphasized to me was the importance of making this a "romantic comedy" rather than a "gag.
I believe that I was able to create a precise work that spins laughter into the story, without swinging into one-off laughs. This is an animation that I hope you will enjoy and share the excitement with your family, friends, and loved ones.
I hope that through this work, you will feel the gratitude of "Itadakimasu" and the preciousness of "Gochisosama," which we usually tend to forget.

Comment from Kimiko Ueno, Series Composition
I was asked by director Takamatsu and the producers, "Do you want to make a romantic comedy? It was about eight years ago that we were talking about "romantic comedies" while chomping on surume (dried cuttlefish) at an izakaya (Japanese-style bar), which is not the usual place for romantic comedies. Now, at last, we have finally left the world. I am filled with emotion.
I hope it will be a source of enjoyment for you all. We look forward to your continued support of "Astronaut".

Comment from Hidesaku Kubonouchi, character designer
It was seven or eight years ago that I was asked to do the character draft. After many twists and turns, it finally saw the light of day.
The characters are quite free and open...in other words, I had a lot of fun drawing them in an out-of-control way. In other words, I had a lot of fun drawing the characters.
I am looking forward to seeing how the quirky characters with a somewhat Showa-era déjà vu will run amok in the anime.

Character Design / Chief Animation Director / Maho Aoki Comment
At first I was very worried about how to express Kubonouchi's beautifully illustrated character drafts in the anime.
I also read Ueno-san's script and thought, "I want to make the characters expressive! I found Kubonouchi's manga "Tsurumoku Bachelors' Dormitory" very helpful. I believe that the new script is a little different from the gag faces in recent anime, and has a nostalgic feel to it. I hope you all enjoy watching it.

Please let me make your breakfast!

A sweet yet bittersweet love story between a chef and his landlord set in Asutoroso, an apartment building that offers breakfast.

Aliens from far away and even a mysterious spy robot appear, and the story takes a leap into a grand mystery with mysterious phenomena that would not be possible in everyday life!
