Part 1: Five useful strategies in "Dragon Quest Monsters 3"! Introducing elements that change with the weather and seasons, enemies to watch out for, and more!

Dragon Quest Monsters 3: Prince of Demons and the Journey of the Elves, an RPG for Nintendo Switch, is now available on December 1, 2023. This is the latest title in the "Dragon Quest Monsters" series, in which players join monsters to fight alongside them, and features Pizarro, who first appeared in "Dragon Quest IV: The Leaders," as the main character, and tells the story of his rise to the top of the demon world.

In this article, we will introduce some techniques and trivia that will be useful in the strategy of this work.

Monsters appear in different seasons and in different weather conditions.

In this title, various demon worlds appear, including "The Demon World of the High Castle" and "The Demon World of the Purgatory Pass. Each of these worlds is inhabited by a large number of monsters, but the conditions for the appearance of individual monsters vary depending on the weather and season. Therefore, it is important to check the current season and the weather conditions. Some types of monsters have very strict conditions for appearance, so if you pay attention to the season and the weather, you will be able to encounter new monsters.

If there are places you can't go, check the season.

If you find a river that is too wide or a place you can't jump to, wait until the season changes. The spring, summer, fall, and winter seasons in this work are related not only to the appearance of monsters, but also to some of the gimmicks in the magical world. In spring, flowers appear that allow you to move somewhere, and in summer, ivy grows to allow you to climb up to some high places. In autumn, pumpkins grow and become footholds, and in winter, rivers freeze over, allowing people to walk on the surface of the water. By touring the magical world in different seasons, you will be able to explore a wider range of areas.

Use Lula to quickly move to various locations.

The spell "Rula," which Pizarro learns early in the story, allows players to warp to designated locations. Since the map in this title is large, if you want to travel long distances, warp to the Rula point closest to your destination. Rulers can be found at Rosalie Hill Tower, as well as at the entrances to towns and dungeons in the demonic world. Warping to Rosalie Hill Tower is especially beneficial because the HP and MP of the monsters currently in your party will be restored on the spot.

Don't miss the metal monsters!

Metal monsters such as Metal Slime, Hagure Metal, and Metal King appear in some magical worlds. Some of these monsters can provide more than tens of thousands of experience points when defeated, making them ideal for raising monster levels.

However, metal monsters have very high defenses and evasion rates. In addition to being difficult to damage, they are also difficult to hit and have a high probability of running away. To counter this problem, it is advisable to recruit monsters that have the "Metal Killer" characteristic, which is effective against enemies with "Metal Body" characteristics, or monsters that can learn techniques such as the "Tsurugi no Mai" (a series of attacks) that can defeat metal monsters with a single attack.

There are strong enemies in each demon world.

In each of the three levels of the demon worlds (beginner, intermediate, and advanced), there are powerful monsters that are much stronger than the other monsters. They are large in size and can be recognized at a glance even if you see them for the first time. Basically, it is difficult to win a battle when you have just arrived in this magical world, so unless you are very confident in your party, it is safe to avoid battles. Huge, powerful monsters appear in all seasons and in all weathers, so it is easy to meet them as long as you know where they are. Be prepared and fight them later. Most of the powerful enemies can be scouted just like regular monsters.
