Aoshima's new "Initial D Takumi's Hachi Roku" is an easy plastic model for beginners of automotive plastic modeling!

Hello, this is Kariyasu! This time, we would like to introduce and review "Initial D Takumi's Hachi Roku", the latest in the "The Snap Kit" series currently on sale from Aoshima Bunka Kyozai-sha!

What is "The Snap Kit"?

The Snap Kit" is a series of easy-to-build car models developed by Aoshima, a company that plans and develops plastic models in various genres. The features can be briefly summarized at ......

The Snap Kit is a glueless snap kit, so all you need is a pair of nippers and tweezers to start building!

Low price, ideal for first-time plastic modelers!

The model is realistic enough without painting, and the details can be reproduced with stickers!

The 1/32 scale is just right, not too big and not too small, allowing you to collect a variety of cars!

The 1/32 scale models are not too big or too small, allowing anyone to enjoy car modeling in an easygoing manner!

This time, the AE86 of Takumi Fujiwara, the main character of the legendary racing comic "Initial D", will be produced. Collaboration kits between Aoshima and "Initial D" have been released in the past in 1/24 scale, but this is the first time they will appear in "The Snap Kit" series. At 2,200 yen including tax, it is a great value for money!

The number of parts is only 41, and they are color-coded from the beginning. Also, this product is based on the "Toyota Sprinter Treno (High Tech Two Tone)" as a base kit, and this time 15-inch 8-spoke wheels, 15-inch tires, custom steering wheel, drink holder, and sports muffler have been added as new parts.

Those who are trying plastic modeling for the first time can rest assured that there is a guide to help them!

Lights, mirrors, logos on body parts, emblems, window frames, and instrument panel are reproduced with stickers.

The limited first edition also comes with the bonus item "Tsunagaru! The "Pass" diorama paper craft" is included as a special bonus! The same paper craft is also included in the "Takahashi Keisuke's RX-7 (Limited First Edition)," which is currently on sale, so you can combine them to recreate battle scenes (see below)!

■Assembled!

This time, I would like to build it completely straight, without painting or modification.

Necessary tools: nippers, tweezers

Useful tools: File, cotton swab (toothpicks are also acceptable)

First, apply stickers to the body and window parts before assembling. Since the adhesive will lose its adhesive strength if you reapply the stickers many times, use tweezers to carefully apply the stickers only once so that they do not slip off (especially the window frames)!

After attaching the stickers, use cotton swabs or toothpicks to firmly adhere them to the parts.

Cut out the various parts with nippers, file lightly, and assemble. Incidentally, the recommended file is God Hand's "Kami Yasu! series.

If you have this, you don't need any other file anymore! God Hand's "Kami File! 10mm thick (12 sheets)" will make your sharpening work easier! The Tool Way! Part 1

Insert the window parts into the body firmly. Since you will not be able to touch the inside of the car after completion, use a cotton swab at this point to remove any dust or sebum that may have adhered to the window parts.

The interior parts are completed by attaching the stickers and attaching the steering wheel! Carefully fold them into a box shape.

Depending on the position of the shaft, you can choose either normal or lowered ride height. First, let's try the normal ride height.

The retractable headlights can be opened or closed. First, let's try opening the headlights.

After fitting the mirrors and lights, the model is complete!

This quality is achieved without modification or painting!

You can write your own number on the license plate by attaching the included white stickers. It will be fun to make a full-scale license plate using the official Aoshima website "License Plate Maker"!

The driver's seat is realistic and cool!

■Changed the lights and ride height!

Even after completion, the ride height and lights can be changed.

For the ride height, simply remove the tires and reinsert the shaft into the lowered position!

It is easy to reassemble the light part when the bumper is removed.

Once the parts are in place, it is easy to remove them by using a parts opener.

Put the parts back together and the reassembly is complete!

With the lights closed, this is the image of the car at a standstill.

The lowered position is also cool!

Try your hand at paper crafting!

Assembling the included paper craft is just as easy as assembling the main body. Even those who are new to paper crafts can quickly complete it!

Cut out the guardrails with a cutter or scissors.

Use a long ruler and a pointed tool to make a crease along the line where the guardrail will be bent. Use a bamboo skewer or the other side of the blade of a design knife (cutter) to draw a clean, smooth line!

Use craft bond or double-sided tape to adhere the parts. In this case, we used miniature double-sided tape that can be purchased at convenience stores.

Once the guardrails are attached. Finished!

A powerful base can be created with a simple craft.

Drift scenes can be recreated!

The angle from above is also nice!

If you purchase the aforementioned "Takahashi Keisuke's RX-7 (Limited First Edition)" at the same time, you can recreate this famous scene from the original story!

So, what do you think? If you watch the "Initial D" manga or anime before building this kit, it will give you more motivation!
