Southeast Asia's largest J-Pop culture event, Anime Festival Asia Singapore 2023 ("Singapore AFA"), was held at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Center from November 24 to 26, 2023. Many cosplayers participated in the event, which attracted anime, manga, and other content lovers from around the world. One cosplayer in particular, liabear from the Philippines, attracted a lot of attention. We asked her about the key points of her costume and her impressions of the event.

--What did you think of today's event?

It is really chaotic, there are just too many people! But that's what makes it interesting.

--What was your cosplay today?

It's Yoko Rittner from "Gurren Lagann." He is my favorite character.

--What made you choose this cosplay?

Because it is of course ...... sexy! I like the costume because it's sexy too.

--What is your prized part?

Hmmm ...... my nose. I'm often told I have a good nose.

--What would you like to cosplay next?

I plan to cosplay as Takina Inoue from "Licorice Recoil!

--When did you start cosplaying?

I started in 2014. My first cosplay was Alice in "God's Memo Pad".

--Do you remember the cosplay that became a hot topic?

It was Yol Forger from "SPY x FAMILY." Do you know him? I cosplayed him at this event last year. I am happy because people say I look beautiful when I cosplay as Yol.

--Do you have a reason for participating in "Singapore AFA"?

Because I was invited by a friend. Actually, I was in Hong Kong until yesterday. It was a good decision to come to the Singapore event. Because I can enjoy cosplay so much.

--Did you get to talk to any fans from overseas?

I was very surprised to be approached by so many people. I had no idea that so many people knew about me. ......

--What countries have you visited so far?

I have been to Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines....... I travel a lot and would like to visit more countries!

--Have you ever heard of "Comic Market"?

Of course...... but I don't want to go!

--Why not?

I don't want to go to "Comic Market" because it's so crowded. ...... But I also want to go.

--Comiket is held in summer and winter. It would be interesting to go to either one.

The heat or the cold. ...... Which one should I go first? ...... (laughs). I think about it because I hear that cold is very hard and summer in Japan is very hot!

--Do you like Japanese food?

Of course, I love Japanese food. My father is Japanese. So I always go to Japan to see him.

--Since we are here, please tell us about some local delicacies.

A good Filipino food is adobo. It is a dish of chicken intestines, blood, liver ...... and eggs. I like it so much that I can eat chicken every day for a week!
