YU-GO's Character Modeling LABO] Vol.11 HG 1/144 Jim (Shoulder Cannon/Missile Pod)

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Island of Cruz Doan" has been in theaters for quite some time now, and I'm sure that many of you have seen the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K UHD BD versions of the movie. I am sure that everyone has their own opinion about the work, but personally, I think that it is the greatest common denominator of "'First Gundam' that can be seen in this day and age.
As well as the nostalgic sound effects when the mobile suits are driven, I am sure that many fans were thrilled to hear the famous background music arranged by Takayuki Hattori from the original score by Takeo Watanabe and Yuji Matsuyama. I think I was able to reconfirm my love for the first Gundam by watching this film.

The Jim that is attacked by the Doan Zaku at the beginning of this work shows the true nature of a "screwed-up mecha" without regret, and made me reaffirm that "Yes, a Jim is such an MS! It made me reconfirm that "indeed, Jim is such an MS! It is a Gundam fan who loves the Jim, even though it was used in the movie. For all of you Gundam fans out there who still love the Jim, I would like to begin the long-awaited kit review!

Let's start with the box art as usual.

The three Jims are depicted in different armaments, and the anticipation is already high.

The kit contents look like this. The main color is a stable light greenish white, which makes you think, "I'm going to build a Jim now! It makes me feel like "I'm going to build a gym now!

Face parts. Even the inside of the face is sculpted with detailed molds.

The sole parts are also molded in detail. There seems to be no parts cut out.

Ring parts are also separate parts. You may want to arrange the coloring here.

The weapon set is so complete that you might be tempted to say, "Weapon set? The weapon set is so complete that it makes you want to say, "What a weapon set! It seems to expand the play value in various ways.

The hand parts are also well-prepared.

So, I put it together right away!

The gym is just as it was in the movie!

The thrusters on the calf can be opened and closed!

Fully equipped.

It looks great even when it is standing.

The range of movement is wide, and action poses like this are also possible. Two types of equipment can be mounted on the backpack: shoulder cannon and missile pod.

Overhead close-up.

This shot is also cool.

Here is a set of Weapon that looks like it could be played with in various ways.

Easy processing, one-point lecture

Now, let's start with the face parts, as we are going to modify them in an orthodox way this time.

For the internal mechanism, first paint it with "XGM100 Gundam Marker EX Gundam Plated Silver" from GSI Creos, and then smear it with "Mr. Weathering Color Multi Black".

For details carved on the surface, use WAVE's "HT556 HG Micro Chisel" or Fantec's "Suzi Swelling Carbide" and carve as if tracing, so that the smears will go in nicely.
This is just a plain work, but it is surprisingly effective, so we recommend it.

Argo File Japan's "Dia Finish PRO" is quite effective in reviving smudged carvings that have disappeared after shaping. It is also easy to file small areas, and since it is available in #200, #400, and #600 grades, it is recommended to have a variety of file sizes available.

Completed! I combined the shoulder cannon and the missile pod. It looks very strong.

This time, I tried to make it as orthodox as possible, how do you like it?

This time, I wanted to use the color of the molding to express the painting, so I sprayed a darker color with medium blue added to the basic color, let it dry, and then sanded it with God Hand's "Kami Yasu #1000" to remove the paint.

The back style also looks good. The rings on the joints are painted with Kreos "Mr. Color GX1 Cool White" as accents and finished with gloss finish.

Bust up. The surface detail is clearly finished with deep line carvings.

After completion, action poses will look great.

Overhead view is my favorite shot.

Shot from the front. Painting on the internal mechanism will make it more eye-catching.

This is the style of Jim. It is simple but cool.

What do you think? This time, we tried to create an orthodox and simple example that looks good as a 3D model.
Basically, if you take your time in shaping the parts before painting, I think you will be able to achieve a careful finish. It is a series of steady work such as filing, etc., but I hope you will enjoy it with patience.

See you again in the next example!
