Spicy yet tasty! Hyakunen Honpo Akihabara So-honten" deliciously spicy Chinese buckwheat noodles with gravy 950 yen! Spicy and tasty hot Chinese noodles for the cold season!

When you come to Akihabara, you may have a hard time deciding where to have lunch.

To help you decide, here are some Akiba eats that I, Shun Gori, who always wanders around Akihabara even when I have no need to go out for lunch, recommend.

As Akibaites who like to spend money on their hobbies, we assume that you can spend no more than 1,000 yen for lunch, so we would like to focus on menus that can be eaten for less than 1,000 yen.

It is human nature to crave warm ramen when you feel cold. However, it is surprisingly difficult to choose where to eat and what to eat from among the many ramen restaurants available.

This time, we visited "Hyakunen Honpo Akihabara So-honten," where you can enjoy "deliciously spicy Chinese buckwheat noodles with gravy" that will warm you up from the inside out.

Hyakunen Honpo Akihabara So-honten is located along Kuramae-bashi-dori Avenue, an 8-minute walk from the Denkigai Exit of JR Akihabara Station and about 1 minute from Suehirocho Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line. The restaurant is located along the main street, so it should be easy to find, but there are many ramen stores in the surrounding area, so first look for the "Nigiru Chuka Soba" sign.

Inside the restaurant, there are 12 seats at the counter and one table, an average number of seats for a ramen shop in Akihabara. However, the seats are spaced far enough apart to make it easy to sit down.

There is no specific lunch menu, so you have to choose a combination of what you want from the regular menu. However, you can order up to a large serving of noodles for free, so unless you are a glutton, it should be enough to fill you up.

Also, there is a "student discount" system, so students can get a discount if they show their student ID. This is a chance for students to use their privileges, so be sure to take advantage of it.

This time, I ordered a large portion of the popular "Umami Spicy Chinese Buckwheat Noodle with Spicy Meat Soup" for 950 yen! The price is 950 yen.

The toppings include original chashu pork, bamboo shoots, and green onions, all of which are "prepared with the skill of a master chef at an exquisite temperature.

The noodles are straight and thin.

The noodles are made from four different kinds of wheat, and are said to be specially prepared so that the gravy can be absorbed by the noodles.

The special chashu pork is of course delicious eaten as is, but if you soak it in the soup, it will warm up nicely and soak up the flavor of the soup, giving it a different taste. We recommend that you soak the noodles in the soup before you start eating them.

The soup is also kept cool thanks to the oil film on the surface of the noodles.

The soup is spicy, but the flavor of the meat, chicken, pork, chicken gara, momiji, and vegetable broth can be felt deep within the spiciness.

I stirred the noodles from the bottom before eating them, which allowed me to enjoy the spicy flavor all the way through, as the spicy fat floating in the noodle spread throughout the entire ramen.

A pop-up book of "secrets" on how to enjoy the dish is placed at the counter, so it is a good idea to experiment with different flavors to match your order.

In the case of the spicy Chinese buckwheat noodles I ordered this time, I tried pouring "Nibo-zu," a special vinegar infused with the flavor of dried sardines, over the noodles to make them even tastier.

Indeed, the vinegar made the noodles more refreshing, and at the same time, the aroma of niboshi (dried sardines) was slightly effective, making it literally a different kind of deliciousness!

The "Meat Juice" is a must-try for all those who are interested in "meat soup.

The "nikushiru gyoza" (meat soup dumplings) are also excellent, so if ramen alone is not enough for you, please be sure to try them with this dish.

The spiciness of the "deliciously spicy Chinese buckwheat noodles with gravy" can be adjusted, so if you like spicy food, why not try a higher level of spiciness?

So, this time, we visited "Hyakunen Honpo Akihabara So-honten," a restaurant where you can enjoy their special spicy Chinese noodles with gravy.

It was very tasty Chinese soba noodles with a firm broth flavor behind the pungent spiciness. Moreover, even though the outside temperature was 1 degree Celsius, my whole body remained warm for a while after eating it, making it especially suitable for this cold season.

If you are not a fan of spicy food, we also recommend the regular "Chinese buckwheat noodles with gravy" or "Hyakunen mazesoba". These are also very tasty, so please give them a try.
