The "Detective Conan" series continues to gain momentum, with the original author Gosho Aoyama's comics reaching 104 volumes and the TV anime series exceeding 1,000 episodes. The guest voice actors who will play key persons in the film version have been announced.

Hokkaido's proud star, Yo Oizumi, will play the role of Yoshihisa Kawazoe, a detective with the Hokkaido Police Department's Investigation Division.

In response to the offer, Mr. Oizumi said, "Whenever 'Detective Conan' is released, it always does extremely well at the box office, and 'Conan' is always number one (in terms of attendance). So when my film was released around the same time, it was hard for me to make it into the top ranks, and I had a bitter feeling about "Conan"... (laughs) But now that I am going to be in the film, I feel that there is no other film that is so reassuring. (Laughs.) I thought it would be such a reassuring movie to be a part of. As a person who always wants to promote Hokkaido, I was very happy to hear that Conan would be set in Hokkaido and Hakodate. If the movie is set in Hokkaido, I basically want to be in all of them (laughs)," he added, expressing his love for Hokkaido and showing his relief at having been successfully cast in a film set in Hokkaido.

Oizumi's character, Yoshihisa Kawazoe, is a seemingly lovable, clumsy and unfortunate detective, but he is also a well-informed man who knows a lot about the legend of Hakodate's treasures and the backstory of the suspects who are after the treasures. Mr. Oizumi also commented, "Since I'm playing the role, I'm a bit clumsy and unreliable, but I also have a cool side to me. I can't tell if he's a good guy or a bad guy...I think he's close to me! From Conan to Phantom Thief Kid, I will catch them all (laughs)! Please look forward to it!" He appealed the success of Kawazoe, the character he plays, in his Oizumi-business-filled speech.

＜Story
A notice from the Phantom Thief Kid arrives at the Axue Zaibatsu's storehouse in Hakodate, Hokkaido.
