Eight useful tidbits on how to get the most out of "Persona 3 Reloaded! From recommended ways to spend your daily life to techniques to remember when fighting the Shadows!

On February 2, 2024, "Persona 3 Reload" was released for PS5/PS4/Xbox Series X|S/Xbox One/PC. This title is a remake of "Persona 3" released in 2006 for the PlayStation 2, and while incorporating elements implemented in the subsequent "Persona 5" and other titles, the graphics, presentation, character illustrations, and many other aspects have been revamped.

In this article, we will introduce some trivia that will be useful when playing this title, divided into two parts: school life and battle.

School Life

Possess the corresponding persona to advance in the "comic" series.

In "commu" events, in which you can deepen your friendship with a specific person, a special story revolves around that person, although it is not involved in the main plot. These are essential to the enjoyment of the game, so you will want to advance them as far as possible.

The commes are divided by Major Arcana, such as "Magician" and "Justice," and possessing a persona belonging to each Major Arcana in advance will make it easier to get to know the person in the target comic and raise the comic level more efficiently. However, there is a limit to the number of personas you can possess, and you need money to withdraw registered personas from all books. When preparing a persona for a comic, consult with the amount of space and money you have in your possession list.

Prioritize the "linked episodes.

Some members of the Extracurricular Activities Club, such as Jumpei Iori and Akihiko Sanada, have "Link Episodes" instead of comics. Not only is there no need to prepare a persona for each persona, but you can also catch a glimpse of a new aspect of the persona, increase the status of the persona, or create a specific persona by merging the personas. When a link episode occurs, the other party will contact you, so it is recommended that you try to keep them company as much as possible.

If you do not advance the comic, develop "human parameters.

On days when you don't want to pursue a relationship, try to strengthen your "Human Parameters. There are three types of human parameters: academic ability, courage, and attractiveness, and each has its own level. In many cases, the level of each parameter is a condition for the release of certain events, and if your status is low, you may not be able to advance forever. There are many facilities on this work's map to raise human parameters, such as studying in the library to raise academic ability, using the karaoke "Mandragora" to raise courage, or drinking coffee at a café to raise charm.

Let's prepare by shopping before attacking Tartarus!

The basis of battles in this work is to challenge the mysterious tower of Tartaros and fight enemies using personas, but advance preparation for this is also essential. At the police station where Officer Kurosawa is located, members can purchase weapons and other equipment, and at the Bluebeard Pharmacy, they can purchase items to recover HP and abnormal conditions. All of these items help with attacks and recovery, so if you have money to spare, be sure to take advantage of them. Incidentally, every Saturday, all items at Bluebeard Pharmacy are reduced in price, so this is a great chance to buy in bulk.

Also worth taking advantage of are the vending machines. The vending machines sell a variety of juices, but we recommend the type that restores SP. The vending machine on the second floor of the dormitory sells "Moronamin G," while the one on the third floor of the shopping district sells "pure honey. The amount of SP recovered is a meager 5, but the item itself, which can recover the SP needed to use a skill, is valuable and should be useful in times of need.

Combat

Aim for "1 MORE" by hitting the enemy's weak point!

During battle, "1MORE" occurs when you hit an enemy's weak point. This is a system that allows the player who has hit the weak point to act again on the same spot. Even if there are four enemies, the main character can defeat them all by himself if he hits their weak points one after another. It can be said that how well the player uses this one-more strategy will make the difference between victory and defeat in battles. The first time you fight an enemy, you will not know its attribute affinity, so use skills with attributes such as "agi" (fire) and "buf" (ice) to find its weak point.

The enemy will also use "1MORE". If our weak point is exploited, the opponent will be allowed to act again. It is important to keep in mind the weak points of your combatants and the attributes of the skills they use.

Personas that can use electric shock and freezing skills are recommended in the beginning.

As you progress through the story, the number of members of the Extracurricular Activities Club will increase, but only the main character, Yukari Takehane, and Junpei Iori will be able to fight in the early stages of the game. Yukari specializes in the gale-attributed Garu type and Junpei in the flame-attributed Agi type, making it difficult to aim for 1 MORE against enemies with other weaknesses. Since the main character can switch personas at will, there are no such restrictions, so it is recommended to have a persona with a skill of an attribute that the two cannot use to prepare for the opponent's weakness.

Since 1 MORE can also be triggered by a critical hit from a physical attack or an attribute-attacking item, it is also a good idea to use non-magical means as well.

Surprise the shadow and aim for "chance encounters.

Contact with a shadow will result in a battle, but the immediate situation depends on how the contact is made. If you touch the shadow, or attack from the front or left or right, you are in the normal state; if the enemy attacks you, you are attacked first by the opponent; conversely, if you attack the enemy from behind, you are in a "chance encounter," and the protagonist's side is first. When fighting an enemy, it is basically a good idea to aim for this chance encounter.

If a battle is fought in a chance encounter, the protagonist's party can move first until at least one round is completed. During this time, the main party can exploit a weak point, activate 1 MORE, and neutralize all the enemies with a series of actions. This saves HP, SP, and time in the battle. This is not possible in a battle against a strong enemy, but it is sufficient at least against ordinary enemies. Keep in mind that you should use chance encounters to fight enemies, as this will allow you to explore Tartaros more efficiently.

Use divination before taking on Tartarus

In the Polonian Mall, one of the maps in this work, there is a store called Club Escapade, which is open only at night. You can enter when you have raised the human parameter courage to "Never Never," and if you talk to the fortune teller here, he will grant you special effects that will occur when you explore Tartarus. All effects are useful, such as making it easier for rare enemies to appear, which will give you large amounts of experience and money. However, it costs money to have your fortune read, and the effects of fortune-telling last only until the day of your visit. You should use it according to the amount of money you have and the timing of your attack on Tartaros.
