Square Enix released "FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH" (Final Fantasy VII Rebirth) for PS5 today, Thursday, February 29, 2024. A launch trailer was also released along with the game.

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH" is a remake of "FINAL FANTASY VII" (original title) released in 1997. It is the second installment in the "FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE" project trilogy, based on the original up to "The Forgotten City" with the addition of original elements.
After escaping from Midgar, the city of miasma, Cloud and his friends set out on a journey beyond the walls of destiny and into the unknown wilderness. A new story awaits as Cloud and his chocobo ride across grassy plains and freely explore new locations in a magnificent, multifaceted world.

As the director of the original "FINAL FANTASY VII," I am very proud that I was able to deliver a new generation of RPG to game fans and that the game has been loved for as long as 27 years by many players who were moved by its attractive characters and dramatic story. And now we are equally proud to see what the development team has accomplished with FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH. FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH" is the result of a creative challenge between the main creators of the original "FINAL FANTASY VII" - Kitase, Nomura, Nojima, and Toriyama - and the creators of the current generation who, like myself, played the game as a user at the time. This is a work that challenged us creatively by bringing together the sensitivities of both sides. In addition, many creators from other countries who played the original game and were greatly influenced by it have also participated in the development of this game.
REBIRTH" is the second title in the "FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE" project.
The game is set on a vast world map, and players will be able to explore various parts of the world while pursuing the vision of Sephiroth. With a variety of content available around the world, the game is designed to emphasize the importance of users being able to choose what to play at their own will while exploring the world map. In addition, this title is portrayed as a story of the adventures of Cloud and his friends after escaping from Midgaru to the "Forgotten City," carefully expressing the "bonds among friends" in the new journey toward Aerith's destiny at the end of the game.
