The director of this film is Mr. Gou Koga, the director of "Gegege no Kitaro the Movie: Japan Explodes! The script was written by Go Koga of the TV animation "Macross". The script was written by Hiroyuki Yoshino, known for his work on the TV anime "Macross F," and the character design was done by Toruko Yatabe, assistant director of "Shin Evangelion the Movie.

The cast includes Toshihiko Seki as Kitaro's father and Hidenobu Kiuchi as Mizuki. The Tatsuga family and relatives who live in Wepakura Village, where Kitaro and Mizuki go for different reasons, are played by Atsumi Tanazaki, Yumiko Kobayashi, Tetsu Shiratori, Nobuo Tobita, Yoko Sawaumi, Kazuya Nakai, Kazuhiro Yamaji, Hiroko Minaguchi, Rie Kugimiya, Akira Ishida, and Masaya Matsukaze as the weekly journalist, all of whom are leading figures in the Japanese animation world. The cast includes a talented lineup of leading figures in the world of Japanese animation.

Also appearing are sixth season members Miyuki Sawashiro as Kitaro, Masako Nozawa as Oyaji Medama, Umeika Shoji as Neko Musume, and Toshio Furukawa as a mysterious boy (a mouse) who resembles that well-known character.

<Story
Kitaro and his father, who has been living in the abandoned village of Wailukuura for 70 years, are surprised to find that Kitaro has been living in the village since he was a child. Oyaji and Kitaro enter the abandoned village of Keweikura, where they find Kitaro and Oyaji Medama reminiscing about an event that took place 70 years ago in this village. About his encounter with that man and the fate they both faced...

1956 - the village of Weeping Cura was ruled by the Tatsuga family, who controlled the political and business worlds in Japan behind the scenes. Mizuki, who works for a blood bank, takes on ambition and a secret mission to mourn the death of the head of the family, Tokisada, while Kitaro's father enters the village to look for his wife. In the Tatsuga clan, an ugly battle had begun over Tokisada's successor. Then, a member of the clan is brutally murdered at the village shrine. It was the beginning of a terrible chain of bizarre events. The encounter and fate of Kitaro's fathers, and what they saw in the midst of overwhelming despair...
