Hasegawa's "Kyushu J7W1 Local Combat Plane Shinden 'Godzilla-1.0' Specifications as Appeared in the Movie" recreates the action of the final stages of the movie!

The14thissue of "YU-GO'sCharacter ModelingLABO" will be the "Kyushu J7W1 Ground CombatShinden'Godzilla-1.0' CharacterAppearance Specification" released by Hasegawa at the end of last year!

Let's build the "Kyushu J7W1 Ground Combat Shinden 'Godzilla-1.0' Specifications " in the 14th issue of YU-GO's Character Modeling LABO !

Godzilla-1.0" was released on Godzilla Day, November 3, 2023. I had heard before the movie's release that "the script for this Godzilla is good," and true to my word, it was a great Japanese movie that was far more interesting than I had imagined!
I think it was also refreshing to see that the film was a "Godzilla movie that makes you cry," coupled with director Takashi Yamazaki's tasteful and emotional direction.
In conventional Godzilla movies, we tend to focus on the coolness of the main character Godzilla, the monster battles, and the spectacle of urban destruction, but I felt that this film is new in that it allows us to become emotionally involved in the human drama.
The "Shinden," the fighter that played a major role in the final stages of "Godzilla-1.0," has been made into a kit to the specifications that appeared in the film. I think many of you may have thought "I want to build a Shinden! I think there are many people who thought "I want to build a Shinden! This time, we would like to review this kit, which we recommend to all of you!

Let's start with the box art. The box art is detailed and powerful, created by the artist Kato Tankaro.

The kit contents are like this.

Although the number of parts is small, it captures the characteristics of the Shinden well.

New decals are also included. Godzilla and the title logo are also printed.IMG8

The parts are cut out using Hasegawa Tri Tool's "Precision Flat-blade Plastic Nippers [Taper Type]". This nipper is a limited production item and is currently only in stock in stores.

The tapered tip makes it easy to cut out even the smallest parts.

Since most of the surface details of this kit are convex molds, I took the plunge and re-carved them into concave molds.

Using the convex mold of the kit as a guide, carefully cut the mold with "Precision Kegger Needle" from Daiso, and after carving to some extent, use "HG Micro Chisel" from Wave to prepare the concave mold. (Use a blade width of 0.15 or 0.2.)

This is a process that requires a lot of patience, but you should carve slowly and carefully without rushing.

As for the tool for carving lines, since the sense of "carving" varies depending on the person who makes the tool, you should use a tool that you find easy to carve with.

From the top, "Terrific! Suji-Bori Cutter," "Suji-Bori Carbide" by Fantec, and "HG Micro Chisel" by Wave. Please use the one you prefer.

The carved lines that have been erased by erasing the joints can be restored by using the "Etching line carving tool liner saw" from Unmodo Honpo.

This tool can be used in combination with "Amo Grip" to dramatically improve the accuracy of work.

If carving mistakes appear, I repair them by mixing Wave's "Instant Adhesive, High Cutting, Gel Type [Transparent]" with HG powder of GSI Creos' "Mr. SSP Instant Adhesive Putty" and use it instead of putty. (Care should be taken because of its fast curing speed.)

The "Seventeen-gun 30mm machine gun" is processed as in the play. I made the machine gun by grinding brass pipes with a simple lathe and added details.

The cockpit is painted as finely as possible.

It is recommended to paint this much area for the interior color of the fuselage.

After all, it is human nature to want to have "Koichi Shikishima" on board after making it this far, so I cut and pasted the doll that came with the plane. I cut and pasted the included dolls.

In the movie, this Shinden is called "the third aircraft type," and the wheels on the vertical tail plane are removed. The vertical tail fin wheels were also removed from the kit.

It is recommended to paint the small parts as soon as they are attached to the runner.

After painting the basic colors, weathering (staining) is applied. This time, I used "Mr. Hobby Marker Metallic Set" from GSI Creos.

I recommend this product because it has high hiding power, and you can easily apply weathering and detail painting as if you were using a pen.

The nose should be weighted for a balanced display. (The example uses plate lead)

Completed!

Thanks to patiently carving the lines, it became close to the image in the play.

After all, it looks good when Shikishima is in the cockpit.

How was it?
The kit itself was a long-selling kit that has been on the market for over 40 years, but the parts fit very well, and although the work is hard, I felt that it is a profound kit that can be fun to build if you take the time to work on it.

I think it would be interesting to build the Shinden with reference to the many books and other materials that will be released in the future, and I am sure that the number of "Godzilla-1.0" materials will continue to increase.
I myself would like to create a Godzilla (My Godzilla) for this work ....... Apparently, "My war is not over yet.

Well, I'll see you again in the next example of my work!
