Golden Axe" was first released as an arcade title in 1989, and has become a world-famous game series with eight installments released in Japan and abroad. The game is a fantasy action game set in a world of swords and sorcery, where the protagonists, who have lost the lives of their relatives to demons who possess the "Golden Axe," set out on a journey to defeat them.

Toru Nakahara, executive producer, and Neal H. Moritz, Pavan Shetty and Toby Usher from the original films will serve as executive producers. The animation studio is Titmouse, the company behind "Big Mouth" and other films, with Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canovio, and Ben Kalina as executive producers.
